Summary: Melpomene shows up on Apollo's door step after deciding to take him up on his offer.

Seattle was cold. She didn't like it one little bit. It kept bringing her spirit low. And even when her mood turned upwards, she didn't get very high. Not even the patchy sunlight could brighten up the world enough from it's dull grey of winter. It was just enough to keep going, one foot in front of the other.

She checked the house numbers vaguely. She thought about the fish from that movie that had to keep repeating an address so she wouldn't forget it.. That's what her brain felt like at the moment. P. Sherman 42 Wallaby Way... no wait...

She sat down on someone's front porch. Maybe if she just sat for a minute and hid her face from the cold, she could talk herself into asking directions. Her duffel bag shifting off her shoulder, she brought her knees up to her chest and folded her arms across them, making a nice dark hole for her face. It was still cold. She didn't want to move. Ever.

Her lost look never changed. She felt like they were talking about two totally different people. "Do what? Be in love with her? Has Dionysus soured you on her so badly?"

Apollo chuckled.
"I love her with all my heart. Which is why I won't touch her. She's so young, vulnerable, and confused. She needs me as a brother now, not as a lover. I won't say the thought hasn't tempted me. She's as sweet and beautiful as she's always been. But, to try to seduce her, it'd feel like I was taking advantage of the poor girl. You know I would never do anything like that to any of you."

Okay, maybe she could understand it when put that way. Erato did seem so terribly human when they'd talked. Urania barely accepted who she was too. Her sisters just weren't as self aware as she was, so maybe they did need a little leeway.

"I know that. And they do to. Hell, it was Erato that basically talked me in to coming here."

"Did she now?" Apollo asked.

"And I quote 'If we can't trust Apollo, who can we trust?' And she talked you up and the benefits of living with you. And here I am."

That made him laugh.
"Ah. Sweet girl. I'll have to thank her for that," he said, "Damn Achilles for getting to her first."

She shrugged. "Well if we get to be our normal selves again then it's not like you won't have another shot. Muses, in normal circumstances, are great sharers."

"It's not her I'm worried about. It's him," Apollo said. "Achilles isn't exactly known for playing well with others."

"We are talking about the chance we might be gods again, Sunshine. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be able to stand up to you about it in those circumstances."

"Not a chance, darling. We will walk as gods again. I'm sure, given the right circumstances, I could crush him again just like I did the first time around. Your sister would never forgive me for it, though," he said, shaking his head a little. "You know how she can be. She wouldn't let me free her from being married to Malos either."

"I do, so I know to never say never where she's concerned. Besides, she's thinking like a human girl, and not like a Muse. Love is not always singular, especially when it comes to gods. When she is one again, she'll remember that. And if Achilles tries to hold her back..." She let the thought trail off with a shrug.

Apollo laughed.
"Oh, I'd pay to watch that fight, love," he said. "You always were my little tigress."

She quirked her lips wryly. "Well one of us had to be willing to get her hands dirty for you."

"Why, because I didn't do a good enough job of it on my own?" he teased back.

"You're always very..." She thought about her word choice for a moment. "Precise about it. I tend to leave more of a colorful impression."

"You are unforgettable," he said, kissing her cheek again, "Just the way I love you."

"Well I do like to leave a lasting impression." She was smiling genuinely again. "Now you sure you don't mind having me here?" it didn't matter that she'd spent a week walking here in the ever increasing cold weather. She wanted to make sure this was what he really wanted.

"Of course I'm sure. How could I not be? I get to be with you, my love, and we need never part," he said.

"I'm not going to scare off any ladies you bring home?" She asked it with humor in her tone. Oh yes, she was getting better.

"If you do, they aren't worthy of me," Apollo assured her, "Though, really, which women could possibly make me happier than my Muses?"

"We both know that variety is the spice of life, Sunshine. I just don't want you thinking you can't bring anyone home."

"Well, I'm sure that'll be reassuring to Arthur and your sisters," he teased, "But, for right now, you make me happy."

"Arthur?" She perked up, sounding intrigued. "Who's Arthur?"

"Oh, you know. The Once and Future King," Apollo replied with a grin. "Good lad."

"Really? I suppose I should have guessed it. Large group of men, wife with no babies ever. I do hope he's cute." She grinned right back.
