Characters: Tyr and Corruption

Location: The mall where Tyr works
Rating: Depends on how it goes--probably no worse than PG-13, though.

Summary: There's something weird about this guy...

Nothing like summer to fill the mall with teenagers and... everyone. Aside from the increase in traffic, though, it started off quietly enough.

While Tyr was keeping a watchful eye on things, a man walked past. At first glance, he seemed like just your average Joe: jeans, t-shirt, mussed hair, sneakers. Something in the eyes, though, bespoke that he was far more than what he seemed.

"Hey, officer. Not working too hard, I hope?" the strange man said by way of greeting.

Tyr kept a calm debonair, but inside he was starting to get annoyed. "I'm not asking what it did or did not do for us. I'm asking 'why'?"

"Well, you are now, finally," he said. "You're not ready for the whole picture. None of you are. At least, not on your own. Like it or not, it's going to have to be a team effort. And not just you and your women. I mean all of you."

"All of us? Then why do you have us racing against each other?" Tyr asked, irritated.

"Because your common threat wasn't so threatening then, why else?"

"So what, this is you wanting to preserve your pawns by having them work together?"

"Well, I suppose if you want to cease to exist, that's up to you. And you'll need each other to gather strength before the fall."

Tyr wasn't going to drop it. "So you're not going to admit any kind of motive?"

"It's need-to-know, sport. Right now, you don't need to know. Want to, but don't need to. And you, of all people, should know the value not saying too much at the wrong time," 'Mike' said casually.

Tyr had to stop himself from gnashing his teeth.

"Fine, I get it. Stay classy, Mike," Tyr muttered, starting to walk away from Mike.

"You do understand what needs to be done, yeah?"

"Yeah, I get it, Mike. Team up with the people whom up until now you've had us competing against. That doesn't sound unusual at all."

"Always knew you were a smart one," 'Mike' chuckled. "You need anything... ask your fellows. Someone will know what to do and have the means to do it."

"I don't suppose you're at least going to tell me what this threat is?"

"You already know what it is," 'Mike' said, "No need to repeat the obvious. But the sooner you form a united front, the better it'll be for all of you."

Damn. "I'll keep that in mind. Now if you'll excuse me, I have work to do."

"Have fun!" 'Mike' called out before disappearing into the crowd.
