Location: From Heph's place to the airfield

Summary: Dite and Heph reunite as she picks him up for the trip to Washington.

Upon arriving at the given address, Aphrodite knocked purposefully at the door. She wasn't sure if it would be unlocked or not. She adjusted her sunglasses carefully, trying to obscure as much of the fact that she had lost her remarkable beauty as she could.

"Henry? It's Callista. Is it open?" she called out.

"Be there in a second!" She'll hear the tell-tale sounds of a wheelchair as the door opens. For awhile Hephaestus will just sit there, not really knowing what to say. Finally he manages, "Hi."

"Hello," she said congenially. "I'm sorry we haven't more time to indulge in pleasantries, but do you have everything you need ready?"

"Eh, I doubt it would have been that pleasant," Heph replied back, trying to mask his disappointment at not being able to sit and actually talk. "Yeah, I've got things ready."

"We'll have more time to chat on the airplane," she offered. "Is there anything I can get for you, dear?"

Dear? Probably says that to everybody.

"No, I'm fine. Let me just get my bag."

"All right. If there's anything I can do, please, just say so," she said.

"Thanks." He wheels over to his living room, where a duffel bag sat on the couch. "So where are the others?"

"They're still in the van," she said, "I thought it would be simpler if it were just me here to get you."

"Ah, gotcha," Heph said, heading out with the bag. "Okay, let's get this show on the road."

"Of course." Aphrodite helped get everything loaded into the vehicle.

Two curious young faces looked at him. The boy gave Hephaestus a wary look but the little girl smiled sweetly.
"Hi. I'm Ivy," she said.

Hephaestus looked at the two children, trying not to think of the constant, living humiliations of millennium past. He wasn't going to let himself go there.

"Hi, I'm Henry, he greeted back. "I'm a..friend of your mother's."

"Nice to meet you," Ivy said, "And that's Antny." She pointed to her brother.

"These two can't talk so well right now," the girl added, indicating Triton and Athena.

"Likewise." Heph gives a wave to another child.

He looks back at triton and Athena. "..I can see that."

"Ivy, dear, make sure you're sitting down like a good girl," Aphrodite reminded her.

"Everyone as comfortable as can be?" she asked.

"You have beautiful children," Hephaestus said quietly when Dite was close-by.

Louder he replied, "As can be."

"Thank you, I do my best," Aphrodite said genially.

Soon they started moving.
"It's a short distance to the airfield, and then we'll be out in Washington.

"Okay." Hephaestus looks over at Triton and Athena's current states, seemingly nonplussed. "Yo."

Triton nodded in Hephaestus's direction by way of greeting. He had a notebook with him, along with a pen. The young sea king scribbled down a message and held it up:

"Hello. Wish I could talk, but that requires air."

"No problem. Air's important," Hephaestus replied. "Nice..helmet."

Triton shook his head and rolled his eyes. He lifted his off hand for a moment to reveal his white-knuckled grip on the Trident.

"Only thing keeping me alive on land right now," he scribbled, "Not my preferred method."

"Not judging," Hephaestus assures. "beats suffocation. He notes the trident but doesn't say anything at the moment.

"Thanks," the young king scribbled. "Athena seems to have lost her faculties, or I'm sure she'd say hello."

"Or something." Heph gives a small wave to Athena, inwardly cringing upon seeing the state she was in.

"This is rather drastic for Gaia," Aphrodite explained, "And looks like weve made it to the airfield. Let's do this, nice and orderly. Anyone in particular needing a helping hand? Triton, dear, I know you're only one-handed right now. Children, I don't want you trying to carry anything too heavy."
