Summary: Newly-mortal Puck is reuniting with Titania.

Air travel wasn't that new to Puck. On occasion, he'd chosen to bear wings and fly. Airline travel, however, was a whole new thing to discover. And what wonders there were! Moving sidewalks! Bustling people! Mysterious machines that whirred and beeped and revealed secrets! And the flight itself, cutting through the air currents, rather than swooping and bobbing along with them.

Indeed, as he entered the new airport, Puck was so fascinated with all the sights and sounds and people that he very nearly forgot he was supposed to be looking for Titania.

"Queens do not bow, Lady," Puck observed. He didn't pull away from her.

"No, but sometimes we must bend." She lifted one small hand and laid it against his cheek as she smiled full-on up into his face. "I've become very flexible, you know."

Suddenly, she removed her touch and rocked back on her heels, laughter in her eyes. "So do you need to change or do anything else, my Mischief? Do you want anything?"

"I only want to experience this place from the human side of things. What do you think? am I properly dressed to do that?" he said. His clothes clearly carried Mab's influence: well-tailored d crisp. Too dressy to be considered casual, but he wore them with ease and the did flatter his human shape.

"Hmmm." She stepped away further and then moved to circle him slowly, eyes traveling over his form. Up, down, focused and assessing. A slight smile tugs at her lips but she fights it. She knows full well who dressed him, who always dresses him. She has to admit that Mab did well by him but... She reached out and undid a few of the buttons at his throat. "As long as you're comfy, dearest, it's fine. You look very cute."

"Cute? Is that what we're aiming for?" he asked. He hid a faint flinch. Many more buttons undone, and she'd reveal the mark (https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTcEJh2CXxw4VreeSbMRdfuTrAQEGdt2syAbP-4q96KY0rB3N03pA) Mab had branded over his heart.

"Still, I'm as comfortable as I can be in mortal flesh."

Her quick eyes had caught the flinch but she said nothing and her gentle smile remained in place. She had all weekend; that was plenty of time to figure out what he was hiding. "That's all we can hope for, I guess," she announced. Then she dropped her hand to take his. "I suppose we've got to leave my bower now."

"I suppose we must. Though for me, it's still a little odd having to work on a diurnal schedule. I've always preferred to frolic by moonlight," he said.

"Just the two of us, then, Lady? Not bringing along your friend?"

Titania wrinkled her nose at his question. "Why? Do you want her to come along?" Her own question came out even and maybe even a bit playful but he had known her for a long, long time. She was not very pleased at what she viewed as his implied suggestion to include Karen.

"Only if my hostess would wish it. After all, I cannot speak of nor do certain things before my Lady if there are mortals present," he said smoothly.

"Very good answer." She smiled and reached out to touch an index finger to his mouth. "And one that's really got me curious now. You're really going to have to deliver now, you know."

"Sweet Lady, your Puck wishes only to serve. I shall deliver whatever is asked of me," he promised.

"I think we'll start slow and work our way up, hm?" She allowed her finger to leave his mouth and trace a brief, butterfly-light line along his cheek. Then she drew her hand away completely and offered it to him. "How about we start with flowers? I remember you always had a knack with flowers."

"All the flowers you like, Lady," Puck said cheerfully. "Perhaps we will find some in the park."

"Maybe we will." Winding her fingers in his, she laughed and pulled him from her bedroom. There would be time to linger later. For now, the sun was shining, the air was as fresh as it got in New York, and she had excellent company.

She drew Puck closer to her side as they passed through the living area and she threw a bright, casual smile over her shoulder at her roommate. "See you later, Karen!" she called. "Don't wait up for us."

Another giggle escaped her and she dragged him from the apartment and back to the subway station, street-side. Then she gave him the most innocent of smiles as they boarded the next train. She almost seemed to be daring him to comment or tease.

"Expecting more delights than flowers, Lady?" he asked softly, his eyes--blue, for the moment, anyway--glittered with amusement.

"Who, me?" She touched her free hand to her chest and widened her own grey eyes in continued innocence. "When do I ever have expectations or made unreasonable, greedy demands?"

"Expectations always. Demands, not so much," he replied. "A queen must expect things from her Court."

"True. I forget things like that when I don't have a Court anymore." Reaching for his hand again, she laced their fingers together. "An audience is almost as good, though, when it comes to playing substitution," she admitted with an unrepentant grin. "At least it makes more sense now why I'm such an attention whore."

"That's a bit of a misnomer, Lady. Payment is not generally required," he quipped.

"Sass-mouth." She laughed. "Maybe I operate by the barter system instead, hm? Trading one thing for another, getting my attention and compliments in return for something else..."

"It seems my mouth always gets me in and out of troubles alike," he laughed.

He grinned at her.
"And what trade do we offer for me to grant you your desired attentions?"

"I was thinking that ice cream I promised you..." Suddenly, the train jerked to a halt and Titania perked up, taking his hand again and tugging him behind her, weaving through the crowd and onto the platform. "Sweets for the sweet, right? I think that's the saying."

"Such a delight to know I've managed to keep within your favored graces, Lady," he said with a smile, cheerfully following along with her.

"Well, it's been a while since the Incident..." The look she shot him over her shoulder hovered somewhere between coy and reprimanding. Then she smiled and any concern about her anger fled; Titania's smile had a way of warming a person from top to toe - as if they had their own miniature sun. "First, we're going to Central Park, though," she reminded him. "It's been ages since I had someone willing to roll in the grass with me."
