"Work things out?" she repeated and gave him a most-innocent look, all wide grey eyes and slightly parted lips. Then she pursed her mouth and dropped her gaze to study the table-top. With the perfect air of discomfort, she traced a dainty finger across the formica - lines and squiggles and stars. She worried her lower lip for an instant and then glanced up as she offered him a shrug.
