Characters: Tyr and Sif, Guest-starring Tina Shin
Date/Time: Friday, July 22th, starting around 7 p.m.
Location: Frosted Fancies, Chicago
Rating: TBD, but probably no more than PG.
Warnings: Possible eye-rolling cuteness.
Summary: Tyr and his daughter, Tina, go visit Sif over the weekend.
Kevin had to admit he was anxious as they got closer and closer to their destination.
His ever perceptive daughter caught on quick. "Are you sweating, Daddy?
"What? Oh yeah, a little, hon. I'm just a little hot."
"But you have the air conditioner on." She seemed to think a minute. "Are you worried about seeing your friend?"
Sometimes she could be way too perceptive. He sighs. "Yeah, honey. I am a little."
Again she seemed to think. "Is she your girlfriend?"
Kevin nearly coughed in surprise. "What? No, Tina. Amber is an old friend who I haven't had a chance to sit down and talk with for awhile, that's all."
Tina raised a screwed-up eyebrow at him, totally not convinced.

With everyone packed in, Sif led them to a delightful afternoon looking at the zoo and then a pleasant picnic in the park.
"So, tell me, Tina. Do you like stories?"

Tyr sat quietly as his two favorite woman spoke. He wouldn't admit it, but he felt a bit of a nervous twitch. He knew where Sif was headed with this.

"When I was little, my grandmother used to tell me stories on picnics just like this. She's Norwegian, so a lot of her stories were of the old Norse gods and heroes. Have you ever heard any of those? About the mighty Thor, or clever Loki or wise Odin?"
no subject
"Oh! You mean the people in the comic books?"
no subject
"Sort of, but the stories my grandma told me were a lot different. Who's your favorite from the comics?"
no subject
"I like Volstagg! He's funny!"
Tyr couldn't help it, he started to laugh.

"He is. Do you like Sif?" she asked.

"Well, Sif was... a little different in the stories I grew up on. For one, she had beautiful golden hair, the envy of all the other goddesses."
no subject
"Like yours, Miss Amber?"
no subject
"Something like mine, yes," she said. "Well, that is until Loki snuck into the room she shared with her husband Thor one night and cut it all off. When Sif and Thor woke up the next morning, they were both furious. Thor was so mad, he threatened to cut off Loki's head in revenge."

Tyr looked over at Sif with a little bit of horror. Maybe he should have laid more ground rules on her tale-telling. He hoped Tina didn't mention this to Rebecca.

Loki was pleased, but he knew he could get more. So, he went to another group of dwarven brothers, and asked if they could do better. So, they made more objects made of gold: a ship that could fold into a purse, a golden boar, and a magic spear. And Loki was impressed, but he thought he could push his luck even further, so he went back to the dwarves that made Sif's new hair, and wanted to see if they could outdo the new gifts.
They did their best, making an armring of gold that dropped eight more just like it when it was worn, and, most importantly, a magical mighty hammer, Mjollnir. Well, just for fun, Loki turned himself into a fly and distracted the dwarf, so the hammer's handle was just a little sort. But, still, Loki returned with six new gifts, instead of one. He gave the spear and the ring to Odin, the All-Father. The boar and the ship went to Freyr. The hammer, of course, he gave to Thor to appease him, and when Sif put the headpiece on, suddenly the spun gold grew as her own hair, making her even more beautiful than before.
This pleased the gods, but Thor didn't want Loki trying it again, so he made his threat one more time. But clever Loki, he said that Thor could have his head if he wanted, but none of his neck. Of course, that was impossible, so Loki, in all his tricks, was the hero of the day."

"Well, there was this time when one of the giants stole Thor's magic hammer..."
