Summary: Tyr and his daughter, Tina, go visit Sif over the weekend.

Kevin had to admit he was anxious as they got closer and closer to their destination.

His ever perceptive daughter caught on quick. "Are you sweating, Daddy?

"What? Oh yeah, a little, hon. I'm just a little hot."

"But you have the air conditioner on." She seemed to think a minute. "Are you worried about seeing your friend?"

Sometimes she could be way too perceptive. He sighs. "Yeah, honey. I am a little."

Again she seemed to think. "Is she your girlfriend?"

Kevin nearly coughed in surprise. "What? No, Tina. Amber is an old friend who I haven't had a chance to sit down and talk with for awhile, that's all."

Tina raised a screwed-up eyebrow at him, totally not convinced.

"Don't worry, he didn't. Thor was just angry," Sif assured the girl. "It worked to scare Loki, though. He promised he'd replace Sif's hair with something even better. Thor and Sif agreed to let him try, so he went to the dwarves and challenged them to make a replacement. And they did--a magnificent hairpiece of spun gold that shone like the sun.

Loki was pleased, but he knew he could get more. So, he went to another group of dwarven brothers, and asked if they could do better. So, they made more objects made of gold: a ship that could fold into a purse, a golden boar, and a magic spear. And Loki was impressed, but he thought he could push his luck even further, so he went back to the dwarves that made Sif's new hair, and wanted to see if they could outdo the new gifts.

They did their best, making an armring of gold that dropped eight more just like it when it was worn, and, most importantly, a magical mighty hammer, Mjollnir. Well, just for fun, Loki turned himself into a fly and distracted the dwarf, so the hammer's handle was just a little sort. But, still, Loki returned with six new gifts, instead of one. He gave the spear and the ring to Odin, the All-Father. The boar and the ship went to Freyr. The hammer, of course, he gave to Thor to appease him, and when Sif put the headpiece on, suddenly the spun gold grew as her own hair, making her even more beautiful than before.

This pleased the gods, but Thor didn't want Loki trying it again, so he made his threat one more time. But clever Loki, he said that Thor could have his head if he wanted, but none of his neck. Of course, that was impossible, so Loki, in all his tricks, was the hero of the day."

"Oh, sweetie," Sif said, lightly ruffling Tina's hair. "No one believed Loki was all bad for a long time. He played tricks, sure, but his quick thinking also helped the gods a lot of the time too. No one saw it coming when Loki ultimately betrayed everyone." Sif's voice sounded almost sad.

"I'm afraid so," Sif said softly.

Sif smiled.
"Well, there was this time when one of the giants stole Thor's magic hammer..."
