It started off like any ordinary September Tuesday, not counting all the flags at half-mast for the observance. Tina had gone to school, and both Sif and Tyr had gone to their respective jobs. The mall was fairly quiet for that morning. Pop music from a local radio station played vaguely in the background through the mall's sound system. One young man, maybe in his twenties and dressed a little warmly for fall in LA, wandered seemingly aimlessly around the mall.

Suddenly the radio changed from pop music to a breaking news report. A bakery was under attack with tear gas and a gunman. Two dead, seven injured...
