Gawain stood and looked at himself in the mirror. Clad in a pinstripe double-breasted suit, trenchcoat, and fedora, he looked every bit the part he was playing tonight: a dapper 1940s private eye. Spade and Marlowe would be jealous to see him this chilly October evening! What a fun costume party it was going to be! Cocking the fedora slightly, he turned to the door and opened it ... and then he realized he was stepping into an all-too-familiar hotel lobby. Before he could even react, he found his mind going blank ....
