He was practically watching his skin go back to normal when he finally decided to take a look around him. Everybody seemed either fairly happy with being back to something like regular, or confused. Everybody except Hel.
While her back was to him, it was not terribly difficult to tell how she was feeling. In seconds, Sean was on his feet and at her side, opposite Sif, and his hand rested at the small of Hel’s back. “Hey,” he whispered. “You were protecting us. You were protecting yourself. This isn’t your fault, Hel. None of this is.” His fingers tuck a lock of her hair behind an ear. “You did nothing wrong. Gaia did this.” While Baldr was usually one to keep his emotions in decent check, the anger was boiling up. Of all the people to bring something like that upon, Hel deserved it the least.
He glanced up at Sif, his lips were slowly becoming a thin line of anger instead of the swollen disgustingness they had been. “We need to get out of here.”
