Summary: Anubis shows up unexpectedly with a surprise

Anubis smirked to himself as he typed 'Knock Knock' and sent the text to Hanuman. He pocketed his cell phone and knocked on Hanuman's door. Anubis should have been in LA, getting ready for the new semester of school to start. This would be very unexpected.

That earned Mason another huge smile and a quick kiss on the lips. Then Javi drew back and turned to regard the world around them once more. "So do you want to keep walking or do you want to do something else?"

Mason regarded the question with good humor. "Not sure what else there is to do, keep walking or go back. I don't think it's much further."

"Walking then. Walking works." Javi made a little bounce on the balls of his feet and then resumed the swift, swinging pace he kept at Mason's side. "Man, I'm so jealous of this new trick of yours. You're going to save so much time and money on traveling."

Mason smiled amusedly at Javi. "I know, right? I'm pretty excited about the possibilities." Looking ahead he could see a glimpse of the river through the trees. "Eventually, I might be able to go most anywhere."

"Which will be completely awesome." Javi followed Mason's line of sight and relaxed into his own easy smile. "Do you think you will always be able to bring other people along? Maybe there's a limit to it or something."

"I don't know", Mason admitted. "This is the first time I tried. I guess I'll have to test my limits." He slowed his pace as the path forked, a smaller path leading off to the river. Mason took Javi's hand and prompted him along toward the river.

"I'll help any way I can. You know I will." Javi didn't move to take his hand back but left it in the other young man's, touch as natural as thought for him.

"Gonna be my travel buddy?" Mason grinned. "I'd like that. It has been fun so far, but could be fun having someone with me too. Especially getting out to new places to try and hunt down graveyards."

"Sounds like fun to me. Well, not that I'm all about the graveyards like you are but I don't mind them. Sometimes they're totally gorgeous and they're all special and different."

As the river came into view, Javi's pace quickened a bit and Mason was forced to double his pace to keep up with the shorter young man. Quiet settled between them for a while, something rare but very comfortable. When they finally reached the water's edge, Javi released his friend and crouched so he could better dangle fingers into the current. "Nice," he commented a bit vaguely.

"Yeah. They are." Mason smiled. Javi seemed to understand his feelings about graveyards. He did quicken his strides as Javi sped up. Mason enjoyed his enthusiasm. As they got to the river's edge, he took a moment to look at it, to take in the cold, crisp air. "Yeah... cold?" Mason crouched down to see for himself, wriggling his fingertips in the water.

"Just a little. No worse than the Bay." Chuckling, Javi splashed a few droplets towards his friend.
