Tina had been so excited to take Carl out on his first Halloween trick-or-treating that Tyr couldn't bring himself to say no. She was old enough, had their number on speed dial, and it was a nice neighborhood. Plus Carl's lessons in self-defense were coming along well so he needn't worry..but of course he did. He handed out candy to the latest children, somewhat hoping it was his children coming home early.

"Worrying isn't going to bring them home any faster," Sif said, sounding a bit haughty. "Honestly, you'd think you were the mother hen in this family.

"I know, you're right, love," Tyr admits in a tone a little less aggressive than he would have normally. "Doesn't stop me from doing just that though."

"Of course I'm right. How are we doing on treats?" she asked.

"We've got a good supply left hon. Pretty sure we have enough to last the rest of Halloween," Tyler replied, just basking in the sound of his wife's voice.

"Oh good. I'd hate to have to fire up the oven at this hour," she said, with an exaggerated sigh.

"I know, I know dear. Maybe you should rest awhile. You work so hard," Tyr encouraged in a devout tone.

"Hmm. Bring me a mug of cocoa, would you, dear?" she asked. Though it sounded innocuous enough, it was clearly an order, not a request.

"Of course, hon!" he said, aiming to please his beloved. He raced to the kitchen to acquire the cocoa she desired.

Sif waited with an expectant look, and then sipped at the cup without so much as a "thank you."
"The milk tastes scalded," she remarked.

"I'm so sorry, beloved. Do you want me to fetch you an ice cube?"

She sighed.
"No, no... It'll do..." She shifted in her seat. "I could use an extra pillow."
