Characters: Tyr and Sif, Guest-starring Tina Shin
Date/Time: Friday, July 22th, starting around 7 p.m.
Location: Frosted Fancies, Chicago
Rating: TBD, but probably no more than PG.
Warnings: Possible eye-rolling cuteness.
Summary: Tyr and his daughter, Tina, go visit Sif over the weekend.

Kevin had to admit he was anxious as they got closer and closer to their destination.

His ever perceptive daughter caught on quick. "Are you sweating, Daddy?

"What? Oh yeah, a little, hon. I'm just a little hot."

"But you have the air conditioner on." She seemed to think a minute. "Are you worried about seeing your friend?"

Sometimes she could be way too perceptive. He sighs. "Yeah, honey. I am a little."

Again she seemed to think. "Is she your girlfriend?"

Kevin nearly coughed in surprise. "What? No, Tina. Amber is an old friend who I haven't had a chance to sit down and talk with for awhile, that's all."

Tina raised a screwed-up eyebrow at him, totally not convinced.

"This is true," he laughed a bit at that.

His attention was completely focused on her as she came close. He hugged her with his good arm and even brought his right up around her. While he couldn't feel much from it, it was something he wanted to do for so long. "You'd be surprised. Who do you think encouraged me to confess to you?"

"So I'm the last one to know? The All-Father's known all this time, and just let Thor have me?" she asked.

"What? No, no, he only knew when I admitted it to him on the board before that hotel escapade," he assured quickly. At least he thinks Odin didn't know. "I don't think even he knew before that. I was certain I revealed nothing in my body language. Unless I said something drunk in the festhall once and nobody told me," he joked, trying to lighten the mood.

"Well, if you did, I don't remember it," Sif said, "At least I can rest assured that the Allfather approves of us." She moved to kiss him this time.

He returned the kiss with a smile. He still had trouble believing this was really happening. When they parted he spoke again. "I have to admit..a part of me thinks I'm dreaming."

"Dreaming, hmm?" she said, and she playfully gave him a gentle pinch. "Nope. Pretty sure this is all real."

Another thought occurred to her. "Do you think Tina will be okay with this?"

"Ow," he remarked with a start and a grin. "Since when do you pinch?"

"Ah geez," in the moment he temporarily forgot how Tina may react. "Well, she did ask me if you were my girlfriend on the ride here. So she may not be too surprised. Rebecca has a 'boyfriend' at the moment so it wouldn't be as if Tina wouldn't expect it." A slight tone of irritation when he said the word. "Ah hell, I really don't know." A little of his former euphoria left him.

"I was married to Thor once. Subtlety isn't his strong point," she said.

"I don't think we should keep it a secret from her. She seems like a very astute little girl, and she'll be more hurt if it's hidden from her, I think. You said she likes me, so hopefully she'll approve of me. I don't think I give off any 'evil stepmother' vibes."

"Good point."

He thinks a moment. "You're right, she is VERY perceptive.She'd likely figure it out pretty quick. She does like you, I can tell." He grins a little, "Perhaps not now, but I've seen you angry before. You can be very formidable when you want to be."

Sif laughed softly.
"We'll save my temper for when it's needed," she said. The buzzer went off, and she turned to pull the muffins from the oven.

"Ah... Look at those. Aren't they beautiful?"

For a moment Tyr's mind went to a dirty place as she asked him that with her back turned. He almost thought of making a joke, but he wasn't THAT comfortable in their relationship yet. He walked over and looked past her shoulder. "Um..yes?" An appreciator of baking beauty he was not.

Sif proudly put the muffins on a cooling rack.
"Oh, those will be scrumptious, I can tell," she said. "Did you want to try one now, or wait until morning? They're usually best right from the oven."

"Sure, I'll try one now." He takes one, a little hot, but not too bad, and takes a bite. "Mmm, you truly have a gift, milady."

Sif tried to stifle a giggle.
"Thank you, my lord. Were you wanting to try them with the lingonberry butter?"

He loved hearing her laugh. "Sure. I've taken enough risks in my life to appreciate taking another."

Sif fetched it from the fridge, and got a case knife from the drawer to spread it.
"There you are," she said, offering to him. "But I highly doubt a little butter on a muffin is all that risky."

"Famous last words," he teased gently. He put the muffin down and attempted to spread the butter on the muffin with one hand. It was a little difficult to steady the plate beneath it.

Sif casually put her hand on the plate to steady it, not saying anything or trying to call attention to it. She didn't have any intentions of injuring his pride.
"Well, I always think muffins taste even better with fresh butter melting into their little crevices," she said, smiling.

He noticed, and while part of him was ashamed at his inability to do something so simple, her discretion was appreciated. He couldn't disguise the slight frown on his face though. Her sudden words snapped him out of his mild depression.

"Huh? Oh yes, I imagine it will." With the plate still, he managed to finish up. He picks it up, and with a little bit of a show, takes a bite. "Mmm, you weren't kidding. This tastes great."

Sif blushed a little and her smile broadened.
"Well, at least that's one thing I can promise. You'll always eat well with me around," she said.

He suddenly turned to her with a serious expression. He caressed her cheek with the back of his hand.
"Even if your food was completely inedible, I would want you around." Yes it was sappy, but he meant it.

"Thank you," she said demurely, but then her blue eyes sparkled. "How long have you been waiting to use that line?"

He chuckles. "Do you want that in years or centuries?"

"Plenty long, then. I understand," she said.

"...I suppose I should go ahead and get the couch made up for you," Sif mused, "Well, unless, of course... you'd rather sleep upstairs?"

His eyes shot up in surprise for a moment.

"That's..very tempting. Beyond tempting truthfully, but..I don't want this to go too fast. I made that mistake once, and I owe to Tina to do better this time. The couch..wil be alright." Part of him was in the mood to kick his own ass.
