Characters: Erato, Bes, Asclepius... and welcoming little RJ!
Date/Time: Beginning Friday, March 21, 2014
Location: Erato and Bes' house
Rating: Probably at least PG-13
Warnings: OB/GYN medical ick.
Summary: While the other godlings are summoned to their epicenters, Erato and Bes prepare to welcome their new son.

Erato rubbed her belly as she watched Apollo and Mel leave for the mountain, and sighed.
"I hope they'll be OK. I wish I could go too, but with RJ due any day now..." She shook her head. Then, she wished she could gasp, as her belly clenched and became hard for a few moments.

"Make that... today," she corrected. Nervously, she looked over her all-too-human body. She was still mortal, and she was carrying a little god in her womb. That... couldn't be good, could it?

"Cal? Honey? Do you know where my phone is? We need to call Dr. Oram, and I mean now," she called to Bes.

Bes blinked at his wife for a moment and then, as if hit by a bolt of lightning, he straightened. "It's time?" he asked but, before she could answer, he shook his head. "Of course, right, it's time. Okay." Swiftly, he bent to press a kiss to her forehead. "Sit down, sweetheart. I'll call him right away."

With that, he was gone from the room and on the phone in less than twenty seconds. Surprisingly, he managed to keep his voice even when the phone finally picked up at the doctor's house after what felt like forever. "How fast can you get over here or should I take Amanda to the hospital?" he asked without any kind of introduction.

Asclepius remained perfectly calm, even with the evident nervousness in Bes's preamble-less question.
"I can be there in a few minutes," the good doctor promised. "All things considered, it would be best to keep your son's birth as far from public record as we can manage. How is she doing so far?"

Peering back into the room where he left Erato, Bes frowned with total concentration. Then, quietly, he answered, "She's okay. At least she's upright still and it just started so it's going alright... I guess."

"Can she talk all right? It might be best if I can hear it from her," the doctor said.

"I'll bring the phone to her, sure, okay." He knew he was babbling a bit and took a deep breath to steady himself. The momentary pause seemed to work miraculously, though, and he straightened. Something deep within him unknotted and warmed as if this was not the first time for a delivery in his presence. Bes tried not to think too hard on it. It worried him sometimes when his godhood asserted itself.

Dismissing the thought, he took a few long, quick strides to arrive at Erato's side. He rested his free hand at the small of her back, big and warm and supportive. Then he handed her the phone. "You're on, sweetheart. He wants to ask a couple questions."
