Summary: It's somebody's birthday!



It was Asclepius' birthday. It wasn't his weekend to have his daughters, and Nimue had plans. Plans within plans, if you want to be cliche about it. But just in case something had changed and he did in fact have his daughters her plans included a bit of work on his part. If he was too occupied he would be able to refuse, but if not...

The plot began with an email to him that went as so:

He carefully ate it from her fingers.
"Much more of this, Nina, and I won't get to share when my girls go trick-or-treating," he teased. "These are delicious. Did you make them yourself?"

She chuckled as she pulled her chair closer to his, picking out another truffle. "Hardly. There is a store in Pike Place Market that makes them. One of the owners frequents my shop." She turned back to him with a warm smile, holding the cheesecake tidbit out but from a shorter distance this time. "Everyone who contributed to this tonight are my customers and willing accomplices."

"Well, they're still delicious. Thank you," he said, taking the morsel.

"Galen." This was going to require a bit more focused effort apparently.

She smiled softly and let her connection with the powers fill her a bit as she slipped her hand into his. "Dance with me."

"Yes ma'am," he said with a smile. He stood and wrapped an arm around her waist, gracefully moving with her to the music.

Power filtered through her subtly breathing motes of light into the room to float and dance around them. She looked up at him with those lights in her eyes, her expression soft.

"Stay with me tonight."

That brought him up short.
"You mean you want me to... oh." He blushed. "That is... wow. I am... unbelievably flattered, and even more tempted, but... are you sure?"

He sighed, fidgeting like a schoolboy.
"You should know... My first night with a woman was my wedding night. And I haven't... not since before the divorce. There's nothing wrong with it, or anything, but I was raised to be a gentleman and not take this sort of thing lightly. I... I've never done anything like this out of wedlock. It isn't that I don't want to, or haven't thought about it, but... I just... I just want it to be right. I'm sorry. I must sound like a complete idiot. But, I've never known a woman like you before, and whenever I think about this with you... I don't know... I feel like I'm all... hands. And woefully out of practice. I... I don't want to disappoint you."

Her brows lifted for that bit of rambling he went on. He was absolutely adorable! She couldn't help the small hint of amusement that touched her eyes and smile.

Her fingers touched his lips to hush him a moment. "I don't think you sound like an idiot." She moved her fingers only to lift up a bit and press her own lips to his. It was a soft kiss, just a brief touch. "Yes, I am sure." She kissed him again with a bit more of a suggestion in it then smirked somewhat impishly. "And I definitely want your hands involved."

He chuckled a bit nervously.
"All right. But only if you're sure," he said.

He cleared his throat a little.
"So... ah... did you have anything else planned for the evening, or just... that?"

Ok she can't help it now. A giggle escapes her causing the small motes of light to dance a bit more around them.

"We are adults, Galen. You can say it."

"I'm sorry, Nina. It's just... well, you've caught me by surprise. I wasn't expecting an invitation to stay the night. For one thing, I'm afraid I'm not prophylactically prepared," he admitted.

That just about did her in and it was a struggle of wills to not burst out laughing. Prophylactically prepared indeed!

A giggle did escape and she gave him that shifty grin. "Good thing that I am then, hmm?"

"Quite," he said, starting to look a little relieved, "As proud as it would make me to have children with you, I don't think now is the best time to get started on that."

Her grin became a sweet smile as she touched her hand to his cheek, her head tilting slightly. "No. Now would be a bad time for that I should think."

She chuckled again then her expression became a bit more sultry. "However. I understand practice makes perfect."

"That is how the saying goes," he agreed, stroking her hair lightly before he pulled her into a kiss.

She slipped her arms around his waist as she all but melted into the kiss. There was no hesitation for her, no holding back.

His initial nervousness was quickly fading. His arms were strong around , holding her steadily as he moved to start kissing her neck.

She lifted her chin as she sucked in a sharp breath for the feel of his lips on her neck. Her arms tightened around him, pulling herself closer against him.

"You are truly beautiful," he murmured against her skin. "How did I get so lucky?"

A smile curled her lips as she gently nuzzled her head against his, her hands caressing up his back. "You asked me to tea." She chuckled low in her throat.

"Is that all it took?" he asked, teasing her just a little.

She laughed softly before placing a kiss to his cheek. "Well then there was breaking into my store to help me." A kiss to his neck as her voice went low and smooth. "Then cooking me dinner."

"Just trying to be a gentleman," he said modestly, caressing her hair.
