Summary: Sif and Tyr are getting married!

After all the months of planning, the stresses and the changes, the big day had finally arrived! Sif was getting the final few finishing touches done on her by Frigg and Sigyn, while her mother hovered nearby.

"Can you believe it's finally happening? For real?" she asked.

Sif looked in the mirror.
"Oh, I'm so nervous. Think he's holding up well?"

"Oh, sweetie, I'm sure the menfolk are making sure he's just fine," Sonja Wheatley assured her. "You look so beautiful. He's very lucky."

Sif smiled.
"Thanks, Mom. I--" She paused, frowning. "...what's that noise? It sounds almost like... shouting. Outside."

Frigg frowned as well.

"I'm going to see what's going on, you finish up here, Sif."

"All right," Sif said, and she smoothed her dress. "Let me know when the photographer wants us for pictures."

"Will do," Frigg assured as she left the room to investigate the noise.

With a reassuring smile, Sigyn joined her.

Sif waited anxiously for them to come back, fussing with making sure she looked as perfect as can be.
"Was it anything much?" she asked when the other two came back.

Frigg came back, muttering a few choice words in Spanish. "Bunch of putos protesting about 'false gods' and other mierda."

"...I'm sorry, what?" Sif asked, blinking. "What's going on out there?"

"Keep your chin up. They don't matter!"

"Sigyn's right, sweetie. This is your day, don't let them ruin it for you."

"Is everybody okay," Tina asked, wandering into the room. "You look so pretty, Amber!"

"Thank you, sweetie," Sif said, embracing her new stepdaughter. "Don't worry about it. I'm sure it's nothing. Is your daddy ready?"

"He's sweating bullets," Tina replied frankly.

Sif laughed.
"I'm sure. Are they wanting pictures yet, or do you know? The ceremony starts in thirty minutes..."

Tina loos like a deer caught in the headlights. "Uh oh..was I supposed to ask?"

"No, it's all right, dear. We may as well go see what's needed," Sif said, "...or is it still bad luck for Kevin and I to see each other at this point?"

"Not until the ceremony," Frigg scolded playfully. "You can talk to him through the door though."

"OK, ok," Sif conceded. "Photos after the ceremony, then. What do we do in the meantime? Can we get rid of those people outside?"

"I'll see what I can do. This is your day, I don't want those bendejos distracting you," Frtgg said.

"All right. But please, be careful," Sif warned.

"Always, sweetie," Frigg assured.

Outside the chapel, a gathering of protesters were picketing, signs held high, though aside from their chanting of anti-godling slurs ("No more godlings!" "Immortals go home!" "No need to breed!" etc., etc.), they didn't pose all that much of a threat.

Frigg took a deep breath before putting on her "diplomatic" face. She adjusted her necklace, making sure the cross on it was visible. She guessed that her Catholic heritage may help her a little in dissuading these people from anything drastic. While Tess acknowledged her existence as a former goddess, she hadn't abandoned her values as a Catholic.

"Please everyone, there's a wedding being prepared for. Is there something I can help you with?"

"This wedding shouldn't even be happening!" one of the protesters shot back. "We don't need more of... their kind!"

Frigg calmly counted in her head, resisting the urge to bite the guy's head off.

"Sir, the Bible says to honor no god above God himself. It does not say that others do not exist." She held her cross out. "I do not and will not worship them. However, they are not demanding that of me or any of you. They are just two people in love who want to get married. Surely we can all relate to that."

"For now! But there will be more of them if we let this happen! They're not like us!" another countered.

"Ma'am, I can't speak for all like them, but I can assure you these two people mean no harm to anyone," Frigg assured. "This is America, a land built on the differences of its people."

"They're still abominations!" some other member of the crowd called out, earning a chorus of agreement from the others. "You tell them that!"

Frigg bit her lip to keep from saying what she wanted to.

"I'm not saying that this isn't all strange and frightening, but they are getting married in accordance with human law. Doesn't that say something for them?"

Try as she might, the crowd was not to be dissuaded by her efforts--logic simply didn't work well on mob mentalities. They continued to march and hurl insults and slurs toward the church.
