Summary: It's Tyr's birthday! Time to celebrate!

Sif was up extra early that morning to create a special birthday feast for Tyr. She knew exactly what he liked. Oh, and she might as well get started on the cake too. After all, pastries were her specialty.

While she was bustling away in the kitchen, Sif didn't even notice the small silver package that had appeared on the dinette table. Of course, it was addressed to Tyr.

Tyr had woken up early as well. He was used to starting days early and without Sif lying next to him he had little reason to stay in bed. He decided to get something to eat from the kitchen when he came upon a pleasant sight.

"Well, well, well," He said, leaning against the doorway and smiling. "Fancy meeting you here."

Sif laughed.
"Good morning, sweetheart. Happy birthday!"

He thought for a minute. "It's my birthday already? Geez, I suck at remembering stuff like that," he says, shaking his head. He comes in and moves to give Sif a kiss.

"Well, you should," she said, accepting his kiss, "It was exactly a year ago today that you asked me to marry you."

"That's true," he said, hugging her from behind. He places a hand on her belly. "How's our boy?"

"Healthy and happy, as far as I can tell," she said proudly. "If he could, I'll bet he'd say 'happy birthday, Daddy!'"

He chuckles. "Well thank you, both of you," he said, rubbing her somach lovingly. He looks over and sees the package. "Honey..do you know what is?"

Sif glanced over and shook her head.
"No, I don't. It's not from me. They forgot to install the mini-mall in this place."

Tyr raises an eyebrow before moving to pick it up. "Then I guess it must be from our hosts."

"I suppose so. Why don't you open it and see what it is?" Sif suggested.

Tyr looks at it cautiously before removing the lid.

"Who's it from? Did it say?" she asked.

"No, just.." and Tyr's face goes cold. Inside was a metal glove, speciaclly made to fit the left hand. "..is this some kind of cruel joke," he said through gritted teeth.

Sif frowned slightly.
"Someone think you're a Michael Jackson fan?" she asked with a shrug. "Well... May as well try it on. See if it fits."

Tyr thought about it until he felt it pull.

"What the hell!?" It seemed to be pulling toward his bad right hand. He steadied himself before bringing the garment to the damaged limp. It seemed to shift until it transformed into a right-hand glove, seemingly attaching itself t his right arm.

"Are you all right?" Sif asked, watching anxiously.

Tyr tried to pry the glove from his hand but it wouldn't budge. He was about to respond to Sif when he noticed something..his fingers were moving.

"Impossible..."

"Everything okay?" she asked.

"My hand..I can move it," he says in shock. He demonstrates by moving the gloved digits.

"Wow, sweetheart! That's amazing!" Sif said, coming over to look at it more closely. "Can you feel with it?"

He tests it by touching the table. He frowns slightly. "No, no feeling at all. Still, being able to at least use my hand like this..." He rtails off thinking about the possibilities.

"Well, why don't you test it first with something simple? Like eating breakfast," Sif suggested, putting a dish down in front of him.

Tyr sits down and goes to pick up the fork. There's initially some awkwardness, as it had been a long time since he'd used that hand for anything. Not being able to feel the utensil didn't help, but eventually he manages to properly hold it.

"How does it feel?" she asked.

"I can't really feel anything with it," he answers a little sadly. "Still, in terms of function it works just fine it seems."

"Well, yes, but how does it feel to have it working again?" she asked.

Tyr's quiet for a time. "It'll make life more convenient once I remember how to work right-handed again," he said, deciding to focus on the logical ramifications.

"I'm sure you'll do fine," Sif assured him, "And it'll be a big help once the baby's here."

"That's true," Tyr said, lightening up a little.

"So. You got a very special present and breakfast, and there will be cake, I promise. Anything else special you want for your birthday?"

"I'd like it if my wife could join me."

"Of course," she said, sitting down beside him.
