Summary: It's a godling baby shower!

All the preparations had been readied. At one end of the ballroom stretched a long table laden with refreshments: sandwiches, cold cuts, cake, mints, punch--though, naturally, nothing that was generally recommended that pregnant women should avoid.

Seven piles of gifts ringed the room, each one labeled for a different mother-to-be. The piles for Melpomene and Aphrodite were doubly large--for the expected twins, of course. The gifts were not labeled to indicate who had sent them, though. Still, it seemed like each one contained enough things for both mother and baby up until the little ones were ready to march off to school.

Apollo waved back cheerfully. He was being even sunnier than usual.
"Nope! Not until we've opened presents!" he chirped, planting a kiss on her cheek.

She attempted to dodge the kiss, but she couldn't break away enough for it to be effective, so instead, she glared at Apollo sullenly. The happier he seemed, the more sour she became. "Then hurry up and open them. And could you let go of me?" She knew the answer, but it was the principle of the thing.

"And let you sneak out? You know me better than that," he said cheekily. "Besides, they have Pop-Tarts on that table, look."

"There aren't enough poptarts in the universe to make me want to stay here." She was having none of his good mood, and was stubbornly sour faced.

"Be a good girl and I'll ravage you senseless afterward," Apollo promised.

"Nope, not worth it. You'd sex me anyway."

"Invite your sister. Well. After she and Achilles separate."

"No sex is worth this baby nonsense torture."

"Even if I tell you bring the sea prince and we'll make a cocktail party out of it?"

She opened her mouth to retort and paused. She actually thought about it for a second. "He probably wouldn't go for it..."

"Which means he very possibly will. You should ask."

"Hey this is your bargaining chip. You ask."

"What makes you think he'll bend for me? Not that I'm necessarily opposed to having seafood kabobs."

"Now that's an image." She grinned thinking about that in vivid detail. "But why should I secure your bribe for you? That seems a little self-defeating. Besides, you never know, you tell him why you're asking he might say yes. Also, I'd love to see his face when you ask him."

"I still think he'd be more agreeable if you asked him, but all right."
