Characters: Mab, Bres, and guest starring Siobhan McKinley
Date/Time: November, 28th 2 pm
Location: Savannah, Georgia
Rating: R (thanks to Bres and Mab)
Warnings: A little bit of stealth sexuality and probably surprises as well
Summary: A friendly luncheon, arranged by Siobhan. Completely innocent.
The restaurant was a reservation only place, and of course there was a reservation. The tables were small, intimate affairs, with crisply ironed red table cloths, a small neat arrangement of roses in the center, and black napkins folded into perfect triangles on the gold trimmed china plates.
The ladies, of course, were behind schedule. Read: late. Mab was annoyed by it, and Siobhan was pretending to be blissfully ignorant of her daughter's distaste for the lack of punctuality. The two walked to the table, with Siobhan holding up nearly the entire conversation herself, which was mostly about some charming little dress shop, and how some things you just had to fly down South to find.
Siobhan was a vast contrast to her daughter. Her coloring was vibrantly blonde (Mab would tell anyone who commented on the short coif, that it was very expertly dyed), and her eyes a deep honey-brown. She was lovely, but it was rare that a stranger would pick out that Siobhan and Maeve were mother and daughter. Their only similar traits being their cheek bones and their fair skin.
So as they were lead to their little table by the hostess, Mab looked nonplussed, while Siobhan prattled on animatedly.

And sour was exactly what she got. Mab's flat eyed look was turned to Bres, who was close enough to touch the table was so small, and he received and equally flat. "Hello, Mr. Maddox."

Bres managed a calm, polite tone of voice. "Hello, Ms. McKinley."

Mab ordered hot tea, and specified that she would have milk and honey served separately. Siobhan waited only a heartbeat longer than it would take for Bres to request his drink order and then launched at him again with small talk. "How is your mother doing? It's such a shame she didn't feel up to coming out. We rarely get to see each other in person these days."

"She regrets not being able to, but she's been swamped taking care of things here while I saw to business in Hong Kong. She did say she'd like to another time if possible."

"That was years ago, Siobhan. I'm sure Maeve has long since outgrown me."

And Mab finally couldn't stand another word, as their drinks were set down on the table. "Siobhan, do shut up." Before you embarrass me any further.

And in the mean time, the waiter had returned and Siobhan had ordered without interrupting the two of them until now. "Christopher, Maeve, have you decided?"

"Whatever indeed." And then a buzz came from her clutch. She produced her phone and her brows rose. "Excuse me, I have to take this." In an amazingly smooth motion, she dropped her free hand to her lap, brushed his hand off her and smoothed her skirt discreetly before rising from the table. She walked away from the table, talking brusquely into the phone. "...you speak with his lawyer?....and the terms are..."
Siobhan watched her daughter leave on a sigh. "The girl never seems to stop working these days."

"Yes, but you can't argue with her success."

"Yes," he admits, he turns almost expecting Mab to come out of nowhere and strike him. "We are not formally seeing one another, but..we've been together, yes."
