New Years Return

Summary: New Years Day Hades and Persephone return home with Lilian

Hades, Persephone, and Lilian found themselves abruptly transported back to Persephone's home when the New Year was officially rung in. Hades had been holding Lilian at the time and managed to remain relatively stoic at the sudden transition.

"It's okay, Lilian," he said soothingly. "This is home. Are you all right, love?" he asked Persephone.

"I'm okay," she said, and gave Lillian a reassuring smile before unlocking the door. "Mom?"

While Ms. Mollet had had some notice, at least, that they were alive, and really by this point she had to get used to the disappearances, there was indeed a very relieved reunion.

"Lilian? Your mother and I would like you to meet your grandmother," Hades said softly.

Lillian still clung to her father, although when introduced to her grandmother she extended a hand to shake and near-whispered "Hi. Hi, Grammer."

And Ms. Mollet, for the record, is melting.

"I understand her advanced growth may be..disconcerting, Ms. Mollet, but such things are often natural among god-kind," Hades assured.

"It's so sweet the way you say that like a normal explanation, Ian, but it's all right. I don't mind."

And everyone came in. And there was tea. And cocoa for Lillian.

A wry chuckle. "Well I had to try, Ms. Mollet."

Hades sets Lilian down, letting her explore a bit.

Lillian will walk around a little until the cocoa is ready, then sit quietly drinking it and looking at everyone with big eyes.

Persephone, meanwhile, assures her mother that there were no real complications.

Eventually, Lillian pipes up. "Wanmy clay, please."

"You may want to ask if it is all right with your grandmother first, Sweetheart," Hades suggested. Never too early to teach manners.

Lillian looks at her grandmother earnestly. "Please?" Which gives a very happy 'of course' with a caveat to let her put down some paper on the table.

Persephone just smiles and insists on getting the paper for her mother betwen sips of tea.

Hades smiles as well as he watches his daughter and wife get set up. He looks over at Ms. Mollet.

"How have you been feeling?"

"Getting by all right, thank you...oh goodness."

Because Lillian, once the paper is down, starts going to town on her clay, sculpting a stately house on a tiny scale.

"She's very talented." Understatement? Perhaps a bit.

"Oh yes," Seph concurs.

"What kind of house are you making, Lilian?" Hades asked.

"An in-between house," Lillian says with preschool sagacity.

Hades' brow crinkles a little in curiosity. "What is an in-between house?"

"There was a big house, scarypretty house. Here is a small house, comfypretty house. This is an in-between house." Obviously, daddy.

Hades covers his mouth to suppress potential chuckling. "Ah, I understand now."

And Seph has to grab and hold his free hand with hers as she's doing the same thing.

"Is that the kind of home you would want to live in, Lilian?"

Lillian is thoughtful. "Yes." She looks at her mother and grandmother. "It's nice here, Grammer. but not gonna fit."

Well, if that didn't put things into perspective nothing would.

"That..can be discussed on another day," Hades assured. He didn't want to pile issues on Persephone's mother so suddenly.

"Exactly. But the model looks great, sweetie."

"It certainly does," Hades agreed, lightly patting Lilian's head.
