She had Sean's present in her arms as she hunted the halls. She walked by the library and noticed the door a little ajar. She pushed it open a little further and poked her head it to see if anyone was in there.

"That he promised he'd leave my son's progress to me and mine and that he blatantly lied to me. I would have told him if I can't trust him then I wouldn't trust him to lead our forces and take it up with you. If you didn't appoint someone new I'd refuse to have my pantheon follow him. As that would be at odds with what our hosts want, they'd likely have us wallowing here until we did," Frigg replied bluntly. "Since the Sea Prince is so eager to fight I'd hit him where it hurts, his military pride. I wouldn't consent to following him until he sucked it up, be a man, and kept his word."

"Mmm." Aphrodite took a moment to examine her perfectly manicured nails.

"Tell me, dear... Do you have much experience with the sea?"

Frigg got the distinct impression she was about to be lectured.

"I'm Norse, it's practically a requirement to know the sea."

"And what is the nature of the seas, that you recall?"

"I know where you're going with this, Aphrodite," Frigg replied, not in the mood. "Being calm and tranquil one minute and then destructive and raging doesn't excuse the blatant breaking of his promise to leave Baldr alone."

"You've described Poseidon, dear. Not Triton. He's an absolute kitten compared to his father. But salt water still flows in those veins of his as much as ichor does, and sea gods are a very different breed than most of our brethren," Aphrodite said coolly.

"Triton is many things, but he isn't deceptive. Honor and duty are something he holds to a very high standard. He is, however, a young man in love. Deeply so, judging from that little scene. What happened there is something I've never seen from Triton, and I've known the boy practically since he was born the first time around. And, you may recall how young men can be, especially when they feel there may be competition for the object of their affections. It was the peacock posturing of a young prince trying to defend his lady love. Could you honestly imagine, say, Tyr would act much differently should he think someone might try to steal away the affections of his beloved?"

Aphrodite shook back her red-gold curls.
"Don't judge the boy too harshly. He's been shaken deeply, but he will be back to his usual unflappable self before long. As I understand it, he is still thinking that Tyr should be the one to begin Baldr's training once the time is ready, and Triton will lead him in the army once he is ready. I do trust the boy, Frigg. I trust my own child with him, even knowing that Triton traditionally has disdained his half-siblings. He knows to do the right thing, and he will not disobey orders when they're given him. He does have a heart, dear. And this is the proof."

"He'd certainly be more mature about it," Frigg replied, not thinking for a second Tyr would react that badly.

Frigg rolled her eyes. "Oh joy," she muttered at the return of Triton's old attitude. "Fine, but he does it again, and I will follow through," Frigg warned. "I want him away from my son, as he promised."

"A young first love is always awkward from time to time," Aphrodite said knowing, "And Triton is not a violent boy. He only raised his voice, not a fist. I don't believe he'd do anything to deliberately hurt Baldr."

"Speak with him later, once tempers have cooled a little. He may surprise you."

Frigg sighs, the glow finally starting to leave her eyes. "Okay, okay you've made your point."

"Delighted to hear that. I'm sure it will be lovely, the two of you having a nice chat over some refreshments. And don't tell him I told you, but he secretly has a weakness for salted caramel hot cocoa."
