Summary: New Years Day, Seth, Tara, and Meri are suddenly returned to New York.

They'd been in their room at the hotel, Seth keeping a close watch on his new minigun so Meri didn't mess with it, when suddenly they found themselves transported back to the front of Seth's mansion. And of course it's snowing.

"Freaking ubergods think they could at least port us inside," Seth grumbles. He takes his jacket off and wraps it around Tara and Meri. He gets out his cellphone. "Tyler? Yeah, we're back! Could you let us in? Okay, thanks."

Meri's got her puzzle book tucked under her arm. And a the change, she's looking at everything. "Nice house, Daddy. What happens now?"

"We go inside when-."

And the door comes open, Tyler practically enveloped the doorway.

"Sorry boss, had no idea you were.." and he notes Meri. "the heck?"

"Long story, I'll tell you when we get inside."

"Hey, Tyler," Tara says as she carries Meri inside as soon as he gets out of the way.

Meri looks at him with interest, and once they're inside, reaches out a hand. "Meriset Fizzini, Goddess of Progress." If there was a slight lisp in the word progress, it would be wise for nobody to point that out.

"She decided that would be her godly title," Seth clarified.

"Oh, hey Tara." He looks at Meri a second before shaking her hand, his finger probably longer than her whole hand. "Tyler..but..ain't you supposed to be a baby?"

But the corners of those fingers will be shaken emphatically. "We did the baby thing, but too slow. This is much better."

"Ah..."

"Just go with it, big guy. It's a god thing."

"Okay..what's in the big case?"

"Oh this? Oooh boy, wait til I show you this bad boy..but first things first. You hungry, Meri?"

"Yes! I want noodles and meat and momma said there were pickled green beans."

"Oh she did, did she?" Seth said, raising an eyebrow at Tara. "Well we should be able to do that, no reason to wake the cook at this hour."

"How is there harm in discussing the heights of culinary art, Boss?" Tara asks, although she realizes she might have eaten a bit too many of them while pregnant if Meri is craving them.

"But yeah, sweetie. We can find you some."

"Do you want me to get the stuff out, Boss?"

"No, thanks Tyler, but I can get it. I would however appreciate you putting this in the vault downstairs," Seth said handing the encased minigun to Tyler. "You better use both hands."

"Holy sh-shaving cream this thing is heavy!" Tyler exclaimed, managing not to swear in front of Meri.

Tara laughs at that as she takes Meri down to towards the kitchen, so Meri laughs, too.

Seth gives Tyler a companionable pat on the back as he joins the women in the kitchen as Tyler makes his way down to the vault.

"Any luck?"

He'll find his ex-wife and daughter already laying out some cold cuts from the fridge and checking the pantry. "Yep. You want anything, boss?"

"Um, sure I'll have some of that meat I guess." Seth walks over to Meri. "So how did you decide that you wanted to be the Goddess of Progress?"

"'Cause chaos is already handled," Meri says earnestly between bites.

Little smartass, he thought with wry humor.

"You saying that's what you would have picked first?"

"Well, it needs doing, Daddy. And progress comes next. I mean, you take a sij ... sit-u-a-tion, you add chaos or its just going to sit there being boring. You add new ideas -- thank you, Momma -- and then you move forward. So that's my turf."

Tara blinks. "Meri, have somebody been reading you Hegel and Marx?"

"No, Momma. But as soon as I figure out what those are, I'll read them myself. I'm getting really good. Four pages yesterday."

Her turf? No, do not even think of crying.

"Yes you are, honey," he says, giving her a kiss on top of the head.

"Thanks, Daddy. Daddy, do you mind not having your regular ears and teeth here, and Momma's horns?"

Seth looks over at Tara a second before responding. "Well, for a real long time I didn't look like myself. Yeah, I missed it at first, but then after awhile I got used to it. I admit it was nice being my old self again, but it's not so bad being human, it taught me a few things."

Tara looked at him and smiled, then at Meri. "Yeah, pretty much that, sweetie. And I enjoy getting the horns back sometimes, but you know, it's easier to appreciate them and enjoy them when I don't always have them."

"Makes sense, I guess," said Meri. "What is Tyler? Is he a small giant?"

Seth had to bite his lip to keep from chuckling. "No, Meri. He's a very big human."

"Did I hear my name?" Tyler asks coming back in.
