Summary: The JCs are after their basket!

Esther hoped that they would find the place quickly. Saint Augustine wasn't a huge city or anything, but it was still big enough that it would probably delay them finding the spot. Just what they needed, right?

She kept her fingers tightly around the Horn of Joshua.
"My guess is that we find something dedicated to the Fountain of Youth Maybe it'll point us in the right direction," she suggested.

Goliath stood relatively close by. He glanced down at Esther. "I still don't see how the Fountain of Youth is anyway Judeo-Christian related."

"Supposedly, people didn't start growing old until they were expelled from Eden. What better place to hide the Fountain of Youth than in the cradle of creation?" Esther said.

"Guess I missed that somewhere between Math and English in school," he replied dryly.

Esther shrugged, and pointed to a sign.
"Says it's this way. Let's check it out."

"Okay, let's just hope they keep bullshit to a minimum."

Esther followed the signs until they came upon the alleged spot.
"This is it, I guess, but... I don't really see anything. Maybe... We just... blow the horn?"

She looked around to see if anyone else was watching, raised the horn carefully to her lips and blew a single note. Suddenly, a stone wall cracked open, a basket just visible inside--and then something flew past her head. Something hot."
"Shit! What was that?" she gasped, looking around to see a pair of flaming swords trying to divebomb them like crazed birds.

"Son of a bitch!" Goliath managed to dodge aside, not trying to grab the swords or any kind of aggressive action. "I don't like violence! ..that's not right. Fucking Gaia!" Goliath dodged again, his agression more indignant than a desire for violence.

"Either get the basket in there or distract them! Then run like hell!" Esther shouted, trying to dodge the sword.

Goliath cursed darkly, but Esther had a point.

"I'm a bigger target! You go get it!" Goliath yelled at the swords, grabbing at hilts, and basically did anything he could to draw their attention from Esther.

Esther didn't need to be told twice. She dashed in and grabbed the basket, though she stumbled a little on her way out, the egg with her name on it tumbling out of the basket and cracking open on the ground.

Immediately, she felt her command come back. She grabbed the one emblazoned with Goliath's name.
"Jake! Think fast!" she yelled, and chucked the egg in his direction.

Goliath may have been forced into pacifism, but that didn't affect his reflexes any. His arms shot out, grabbing the egg, which cracked in his hand. Instantly Goliath felt his aggression and love of fighting return to him.

"Oh hell yeah!" He flung the egg aside, grabbed one sword and brought it down to the ground, shattering it to pieces. He grabbed another one and flung it like a lawn-dart at a nearby wall. The blade was stuck due to the sheer force of the throw.

"Nice job," Esther said, admiring his handiwork. "So, uh, mission accomplished, I guess. Just have to deliver the last egg back to Lilith."

"Aw, no more? Damn." He gave Esther a grudging nod in appreciation. "Thanks. Yeah, she's probably climbing the walls by now."

She laughed.
"Probably. Though seems kind of a waste of a trip to only spend a few hours in the destination city. Is there anything else you want to do while we're down here?"

Goliath was at a loss. "I, pfft, fuck I hadn't really planned on anything aside from breaking a few skulls and maybe busting a cap in a few deserving asses." He scratches his head. He wasn't used to being considerate. "Was there something you wanted to do?"

She raised an eyebrow at him.
"You know enough people down here to do that? Or were you intending on just stirring things up?" she asked. "But, no, I wasn't planning anything else. I didn't know what to expect coming down here."

"I just meant whatever defenses this place had that I was looking forward to wrecking them." He shook his head. "No, I don't go out of my way to make trouble. ..Maybe we can get something to eat?"

"Yeah, I'd say we earned ourselves a meal. What are you hungry for?" she asked.

"As long as it tastes decent, I don't care. When you travel a lot, I can't be picky on what's available to eat."

"There's a Cuban place just up ahead, looks like, if that works for you," she suggested.

"Hmm, haven't had Cuban in awhile. Okay, let's do it."

Esther laughed.
"Come on, then. My treat. After all, I dragged you into this craziness."

He waves it off. "Eh, it's my craziness too," he assures. He smirks a little bit. "Still, I won't turn down free food."

Esther chuckled as she walked in and got them a table.
"So... you holding up with all the stuff going on around us?" she asked.

Goliath sat down, thinking on Esther's question.
"Honestly? Yeah. I mean it is what it is. Bitching about things won't change anything."

"Well, we're glad to have you. It's nice having some muscle to help us out. We're so underpowered compared to everyone else, it seems like," Esther mused.

"Hmm..if that's the case how are we expected to win this race? I mean when the whole 'team-up' phase is over?"

"I guess we just have to play smarter than the others," Esther said shrugging, "And hope Lilith and her kids stay on our side."

"Personally I prefer big fucking guns," Goliath says, taking a drink of his Pepsi. He raises his eyebrow at her latter statement. "You think she'd side with her old man?"

"You mean Ogma? Actually, from what I've seen, he'd be more likely to stand with us, I think. He's more loyal to Lilith and his kids than to Bres or Mab," Esther said, "But that's only my guess. I haven't asked him or anything like that."

Goliath just shrugs. "In my line of work you've got to be a little paranoid."
