She looked around at the thick fog that encircled her. "Triton? Hello?" Great, Faerie had separated them, she would have to keep here eyes open.

She kept walking, the smell of food wafted towards and she ignored it again. After a few moments, she could hear the ground under her feet crunching, and there were the vague outlines of trees nearby in the fog. She went further and the outline of her dad's house came into view.

Certainly, this was a trick, but she couldn't resist looking. She walked up to the front door and turned the knob. "Hello?" she called cautiously.

Danielle got a can of the root beer out for Petra.
"He'll be back on Sunday," she replied, "Now, eat up! I made plenty!"

Her mom and her dad. Faerie had her number. She knew this was an illusion, but it still hit its target, going right for her heart. It was offering her what she'd wanted for longer than just last year. Her family, whole, and a normal life.

She filled her plate with pasta and sauce and set it down at the table.

"Forgive the interruption, but I'm afraid Petra won't be able to stay for dinner," Triton said, striding in and laying a hand on Athena's shoulder. "I need to call her away to take care of some business."
