Summary: Everybody out of the pool!

Word came to him that the godlings had dithered around enough. It was time for them to go home and get on with it. Right! Nigel had his orders and he was nothing if not efficient.

He took the initiative to put into play Evacuation Protocol #57. Everything in his guests' rooms suddenly ceased to work. Lights went out. Televisions and computers turned off on their own. Even the water taps stopped functioning, and all of it suddenly. If they were outside of their room their key no longer opened doors, except for those of the elevator bay and then the elevators would take them only to the lobby.

He straightening the cap on his head, smoothed the lapels of his jacket then brushed imaginary lint from his sleeves. He was prepared for the ensuing confrontations.

"We have four pantheons here. It would make sense if each lent one element to this riddle," Ariadne opined behind them.

"It might also help to know who associates with which element," Sif added.

Odin's eyes picked Apollo out of the bunch and he nodded slightly. "Can't help but notice we have a sun god in our midst. That's Fire right there."

She was still leaning on Asclepius though her shin wasn't throbbing as much as it had been.

"Gawain would be good for Water or Earth, I should think."

"I'm also Earth. Tyr is Air," Sif said, nodding. "And I think we also have a Water goddess," she said, giggling a little as she pointed out Aphrodite.

"I will try to fill in with whatever element is needed," Gawain said, acknowledging Nimue and Sif.

"Sounds to me like we've got everything we need," Apollo said, "I'll take the role of the Fire God. Who wants to join me in getting us out of here?"

"The sooner the better." His eyes picked over the individuals in question then gestured towards the revolving door. "No time like the present."

"I will take Water, Apollo," said Gawain, feeling a burst of self-confidence.

"Excellent!" Apollo said as Gawain stepped forward. "Now, why don't we have some of the ladies join us to balance this out?"

"You, my dear lady, you said you were Earth?" he said, approaching Sif.

"Yes," Sif said, nodding. "I will be honored to serve in the role of the Earth."

"That's what I like to hear," Apollo said, giving her a roguish wink.

"Now, we just need a volunteer for Air..."

"I'll do it," Ariadne said, coming forward. She smiled at Gawain.

"Perfect! Four elements," Apollo said, nodding.

"...So, now what?"

"Well." Her eyes went to the revolving door with an irritated and impatient Medusa waiting by it. "He said the elements were the key to getting us home. What do you do with a key, but insert it into a door?"

She gestured as she took note of a possibly important detail. "Four elements, and I notice that the door has four chambers."

Gawain placed the fedora he had obtained from his room's wardrobe on his head and cocked it, Bogart style. "Good thinking, Nimue." He smiled back at Ariadne and Sif, nodded at Apollo, and said, "Let's rock."

He braced himself and stepped inside the closest chamber of the revolving door, ensuring that the next chamber was available.

"I suppose I'm next," Sif said. Taking a deep breath, she entered the second space, pushing forward enough to open the third slot.

"Ordinarily, I'd be an advocate of 'ladies first,' but to err on the side of caution, I think Fire should be opposite Water," Apollo said, and he took his place in the third spot.

"My turn," Ariadne said, mostly to herself, as she took the fourth space.

She was almost blinded by the light that flared out from the door frame once she was in place.

"...Well, I'll be," she said.

The flash had almost overwhelmed Gawain's light-sensitive eyes, but he managed to remain collected. Once his eyes had adjusted, he glanced up from under the brim of his fedora to see Nimue and Asclepius looking expectantly at him from inside the lobby.

He motioned for them to step through the newly opened portal ....

"Come, Miss Drake. Our friend awaits," Asclepius said, carefully guiding her toward the space, "Let's go home."

Asclepius led her to the revolving door and she couldn't help but pause a moment from a case of the nerves. They only had Nigel's word that this would get them home, but there seemed to be only one way to find out.

She took a couple of deep breaths, looked up at her escort then nodded and stepped into one of the chambers with him. They had to do a bit of a mince step to keep from having the panel behind them from whapping them in their heels, but then the portal was in front of them.

"Geronimo." She muttered that under her breath just before they stepped out of the revolving door and into the portal...

Sif was next. She gestured to her Norse brethren, her smile inviting.

He looked to Tyr and gestured him to go first. He'd like to make sure all of his people were through before him.

"In for a penny," he said to himself as he followed Odin's direction. Oh well, he smiled to himself upon approaching Sif, at least he'd be in good company.
