Summary: The god's true personalities come to the forefront on Halloween.

Anubis was in an odd mood. It had started earlier in the afternoon while on the phone with his mother. For years, for as long as he could remember, he'd always been trying to be who his family wanted him to be rather than who he was. He didn't know why, but this particular conversation with his mother was bothering him much more han ever. Finally, he decided he'd had it and began to tell her how he really felt, and who he really was. It wasn't at all how he'd imagined telling her that he was a reincarnated Egyptian god. And the news went over as well as one would expect. Mason got off the phone feeling very angry and agitated.

When his roommate asked him why he seemed so on edge, Anubis told him exactly why. He took the news better than Mason's mom, but he did seem to think that he was teasing him. This was when he decided it might be a good idea to take Hanuman up on his offer to go out to Berkeley for the night for some of their parties. Travel wasn't an issue for Anubis anymore, so he decided he would. He dressed in the Egyptian costume he'd gotten for himself, and headed for the graveyard. He lingered in there for a while, feeling himself calm down, before travelling to Berkeley in his own way. Once there, he texted Hanuman for directions and let him know he'd be right there.

When the phone went off in his pocket, Hanuman startled and yelped loud enough that a passerby gave him a strange look before he managed to fish it out and click to open the texts. Even as he did so, though, he still flashed a wide, white smile at the stranger.

For some reason, she smiled back before catching herself and scurrying onwards. For his part, Hanuman barely registered the unusual reaction; he was too busy typing directions. He stood just outside Sita's building, waiting for her to finish her costume and appear. For his part, he had gone simple... Though one would be hard-pressed to remember Indiana Jones ever wearing his shirt with that many buttons undone.

Sita was having trouble with her costume. She couldn't remember feeling this uncomfortable since she'd had to go into the forest with Rama a whole lifetime ago. Adjusting to that lifestyle had not been easy and, for some reason, she was getting that same feeling again. Her clothes just didn't feel quite right. She'd gone with the cation idea and the cat ears looked okay. She wasn't sure about the shirt though. It wasn't right. She couldn't figure out what wasn't right about it, but it definitely wasn't.

In the end, though, she had to go with it. She had no other costume options on hand and Hanuman was probably already outside waiting for her. At the last minute she threw on some glittery earrings and smiled at her reflection in the mirror. This was going to be fun. She was excited to get out for a change.

"Sorry I'm late!" she called out, coming down the steps. "Costume issues. I don't know, what do you think of it?" She looked down and tugged at her black t-shirt.

"You're adorable!" A few quick strides brought him to the base of the steps and he caught her around the waist as she hit the bottom. He lifted her easily; his strength only seemed to grow the more he was himself. Swinging her around in a circle, he laughed before setting her down and brushing a swift kiss over her forehead. "You'll have to explain the joke to me again, though, because I'm not so strong on science."

She giggled. She still felt a little awkward about the costume--something was off about it, though she didn't know what--but Hanuman definitely made her feel better.

"It's a chemistry thing. There are these things called ions--compounds that have a charge, basically--and cations are the ones with the positive charge." She shrugged. "Hence the plus sign."

"Gotcha." He had begun to nod halfway through her explanation as her words triggered vague recollection of chemistry classes. His hands lingered at her waist. When she was done, he straightened and finally released her. Not for long, though. His hand moved to tangle his fingers with hers and he gave an encouraging tug. "Ready to meet up with Mason and get your party on?" he asked.
