Summary: Tyr and his daughter, Tina, go visit Sif over the weekend.


Kevin had to admit he was anxious as they got closer and closer to their destination.

His ever perceptive daughter caught on quick. "Are you sweating, Daddy?

"What? Oh yeah, a little, hon. I'm just a little hot."

"But you have the air conditioner on." She seemed to think a minute. "Are you worried about seeing your friend?"

Sometimes she could be way too perceptive. He sighs. "Yeah, honey. I am a little."

Again she seemed to think. "Is she your girlfriend?"

Kevin nearly coughed in surprise. "What? No, Tina. Amber is an old friend who I haven't had a chance to sit down and talk with for awhile, that's all."

Tina raised a screwed-up eyebrow at him, totally not convinced.

"Because you were Thor's wife. And before him Aurvandil. I could not in good conscience come between you and your husband. No matter how I may have felt in the matter. I'm sorry I've burdened you with this. Tina and I will leave early tomorrow." He moves to get up.

"Stay." Her command was softly spoken, but firm.

"Yes, it's true, I was married to Aurvandil, and to Thor once, but... They aren't here now. I'm no one's wife. And you were always so kind to me... A rock of sanity when Thor was having one of his tantrums or when Loki was playing his pranks. Someone I could talk to when they went off adventuring and left me home alone. And now... We need each other. More than ever before."

"I understand, Sif. We must be there for each other as we were before. For the sake of my duty..I will put aside my feelings. But I want you to know, I will always be there for you. Even if as a friend and companion, that is enough for me," he swore with conviction.

"Tyr... there's a chance the others might not come. It might just be us. We're a family. Even if that means the dynamic has to be different this time."

She took a breath.
"I've always trusted you. Been fond of you. When I was married before, no one ever asked me if it was something I wanted. Aurvandil and Thor were both good men. Good husbands, even. But... Aurvandil was not as strong as some. Thor was strong, but rarely gentle. But Tyr... you're both. And you deserve a chance to be happy."

Tyr could scarcely believe what he was hearing. He couldn't trust implications. He had to hear it straight out.

"What are you saying, Sif?" His voice betrayed a tinge of hope.

"I'm saying I don't know what lies ahead. I don't know what the future is going to bring. But, I know we need to stand together. And... if you're willing to take this chance... Well... So am I," she said, and she squeezed his hand affectionately.

"So... if this is what you want, then... okay."

With a small "whoop" of joy hugged her to him with his good arm. F or a moment he just held her to him. Caressing her hair, taking her scent in. Until finally he got the nerve to attempt a kiss.

"Yes..more than I've ever wanted anything for myself."

Sif smiled and readily accepted the kiss, her arms wrapping around him.

"I'm sure Odin will be pleased, too," she murmured. "Now, why don't you help me finish up the muffins? I'll even let you lick the spoon."

For a time he simply enjoyed the feeling of her lips on his. When they parted he chuckled a little. "I think you're right. Let me lick the spoon? Well you certainly know how to get man's attention. Just tell me what I have to do." He was significantly more chipper as he returned to the muffins.
