Summary: 'Tis the day before Valentine's... THIS REQUIRES SHOPPING!

Erato bounded up to Apollo's house, her step light. She'd hadn't yet spent any good one-on-one time with her other Musely sister. And now, on the eve of Valentine's--easily one of the biggest holidays for Erato--they were going to go shopping!

She rang the doorbell, bouncing on her toes.
"Hi Mel! Ready?" she asked when the door opened.

"Umm... The first ones will be all right, I think. Unless you see anything you like better," Erato said.

"It's not about what I like, but what you like. Though personally, a lot of the 'pink' hosiery selection is just god awful."

Erato glanced over and wrinkled her nose.
"Yeah.. A little too... What's the word? Gaudy?"

"That is exactly the word."

"Yes, well, now that we've covered lingerie, what's next on the list?" Erato asked.

"Well you've got the clothes, now you need shoes. And you'll have to take point on that. I'm more of a boots kinda girl."

"Heels, definitely. At least three inches high," Erato said decisively. "Might need to be closed-toe, just because of it being winter. Black and pink, maybe?"

Mel swooped a half bow. "I bow to the superior knowledge. Let's do it."

Erato headed for the nearest shoe store, and looked around for something pretty and pink.
"What do you think of these (http://shoes.about.com/library/bl_110805_sexy_high_heels.htm)?" she asked, holding up a pair.

"They're nice. They match. Like I said, I'm really not the high heels expert."

"Ok, so lingerie, stocking, shoes... check-check-check... What next?" Erato wondered.

"What else did you have planned? Any staging or whatnot?"

"I... hadn't really planned that far," Erato admitted. "Perfume, maybe? I'm... kind of out of practice for this sort of thing."

Mel was starting to wonder if maybe Erato should have asked Apollo to go with her. He was better at the whole romance thing. "Oh, right. Perfume. Yeah, I mean, that stuff is probably necessary." She almost sounded like she was asking a question instead of making a statement.

Erato blushed.
"I'm hopeless, I know. I mean, I give people advice on stuff like this all the time, but I feel so lost when I try to do it for myself."

"Okay, then pretend you're giving advice to me. I'm hopeless and your a romantic. That should work out perfectly right?"

Erato laughed.
"Well, normally for something like this, I'd say it doesn't really matter, as long as it's something the partner in question enjoys it and it comes from the heart," she said, "...which is not at all helpful, is it?"

"I think that's actually really helpful. Lets take the pressure off. It's from the heart, he's totally going to be all for it. So just do what feels fun to you."

"I... I want him to feel like it's the old days. Sort of, y'know? I want him to feel like the most admired man in the world. Remind him that he's loved by a goddess," Erato said. "I want it to be special. No... No, special isn't good enough. Phenomenal. Better than he could have dreamed it. He's known nothing but war for so long... I want him to see how amazing and beautiful love is."

"Oh." Well now it was for certain that this was way out of her territory of expertise. Erato should have totally asked Apollo about this stuff. "Well, uh, honestly I think you've got the right start. I mean, I'm not an expert on love. You know me, the eternal cynic. But I'd say just go with your instincts."

"I'm trying," Erato admitted, "What about you? I mean... you and Apollo, you're in love, right? What do you do special for him?"

"Uhhh...." Well this was awkward. "Well, I, uh, I care very deeply for Apollo. And I uh...." What did she do for Apollo other than give into his every request ever? "I clean up after him."

Erato chuckled.
"Oh, come on, Mel, you can't fool me. You're still as crazy for him as you always were. As all of us loved him. And he is madly in love with you--anyone can see that."

The awkward continues. "I'm not trying to fool anyone. You know how I feel about the idea of love." She tried not to flaunt her opinion around too much. True love just wasn't real.

"How you feel about it doesn't change the fact that it happens. We all adored Apollo. He loves us, and we love him. That's the way it's always been," she pointed out.
