Summary: The bridal party visits Aphrodite to get their fittings and dresses... and then it's off to unravel some clues.

Admittedly, Sif was a little nervous about heading to New York. She'd never really spoken to Aphrodite. Hopefully, she could be trusted. Odin had, so Sif supposed she had no reason not to.

She smiled at the other Norse with her. It was so good to be together with everyone again. She hoped the trip would be a pleasant one.

She'd known it was silly, these past two weeks, to miss the ratty dress, torn cape, and rusted brooches. But she did. It was great to be with the others, though, and she smiled back at Sif.

All right you two, I got everything packed that we'll need for this trip," Tyr said walking into the room with a suitcase.

"Thanks, sweetie," Sif said cheerfully, "Want me to carry that?"

"It's not that heavy, hon," Tyr assured. It wasn't..really.

"Oh, I know. But I don't want you to feel like a beast of burden," Sif said fondly. "I can help carry our things." She smied at that--she rather liked being able to us "our."

"Now, we'll be meeting Frigg before we get to New York, but then we're all to go together to see Aphrodite."

"You know I don't mind being your beast of burden," he teases cheekily. He still hands one of their luggage off to her.

Sif laughed and picked up the bag.
"All right, all right. We'd best get going. Frigg and Aphrodite are waiting for us," she said, and headed off to the first leg of their flight.

They were to meet Frigg during the connecting flight, and Sif looked around for her as soon as they landed.

And Frigg smiled happily when she saw her fellow Norse arrive. She quickly moves to hug Sif. "It's so good to see you, sweetie."

"You too, my lady," Sif said brightly, happily returning the hug. "It's so nice to have all of us together at the same time again."

Once the Norse were inside, the secretary gave them a once-over and directed them upstairs to the studio level. A hint of cinnamon and balsam lingered in the air. No doubt about it: Aphrodite was waiting for them.

She was a towering figure in her crimson high heels--easily a good 6'4" in those stilettos--and impeccably dressed in a perfectly tailored red suit. Not so much as a detail was out of place. The Goddess of Love and Beauty indeed. She smiled at the other pantheon as they came in.

"Welcome," she said in the purr that was her voice. She turned to Frigg. "Miss Lawson, I have no doubt." She glanced at Sigyn and Tyr. "The... matron of honor and the groom, I take it?" Her blue eyes landed on Sif. "Ah, and the bride-to-be herself. So glad you could all make it."

"Miss Lovelace," Frigg replied in a friendly, but business tone. "Nice to meet you in person." She extends a hand.

"The pleasure's mine," she said smoothly. She smirked at Tyr. "I assume no one considers it bad luck to have the groom here to see his bride in her gown?"

Tyr chuckles. "I'll be sure to avert my eyes at the appropriate moments."

"Sweetness, trust me, you won't be able to," Aphrodite laughed.

She gave Sigyn another once over.
"I didn't have the measurements for you, so I had to take a guess," she said, "I do hope your dress fits properly. And a shame the flower girl isn't here to try hers on. Pity. Still, just a moment..."

Aphrodite disappeared behind a curtain, and returned pushing a wheeled rack with their clothes.
"And I do also have the special order that Odin put in for the male members of the party. They're the ones getting paid, but, as a favor in his absence, I'm handling the details on them."

"Sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you," Sigyn says quietly, with an awkward smile.

Aphrodite just smiled.
"All right. Bridesmaid dresses are these two--they have your names on them. Bride's dress is this one... And groom's is this one," she said, handing over the zippered garment bags, "Go on, try them on. Fitting area is right back there." She pointed to a row of small changing rooms.

Sif smiled as she took the garment bag and sashayed off to try it one.

She returned a few minutes later in the silken gown (http://www.magicmomentscollections.com/item/Jacquelin_9858_Bridal_Dress/5484/c195) with a daintily smocked bodice and the embroidery detail in ice blue with a Nordic motif that delicately worked in touches of grain and rowan berries.

"Well?" she asked, turning around.

After the Norse had finished their fun in New York getting everything readily outfitted for the wedding, it was time to head to Iowa. Sif had managed to set up arrangements in a little German-style bed-and-breakfast right in the heart of the Amana Colonies.

"Admittedly, I'm not sure where to start looking around here--the Amanas are bigger than they look," Sif said after they had arrived and settled in, "Any thoughts on where you want to try first?"

"The Amana Colonies--that's the Community of True Inspiration. Beyond that..." She shrugged.

"I admit I know next to nothing about this place."

"I grew up just a couple hours from here," Sif said, "They're really not a lot different than the Amish in many respects. Well, except that they are okay with technology. In fact, they're behind a national appliance company. But they also still have a lot of traditional craftsmanship. ...maybe we can start there? At one of the artisanal areas, like a woolworks or a smithy or something?"

"Sounds like a good idea, hon. I've never been around here before. Probably should have read more about it," Frigg chastised herself softly.

"Well, Iowa isn't exactly a tourist Mecca," Sif admitted. "There should be some places outside the center. Past all the Christmas stores. What strikes your fancies? Textiles? Wine? Ironworks?"
