Summary: It's Christmas morning! Let the traditions begin!

Even being immortal didn't keep Sif from getting up early. She quickly whipped up a batch of pastries and then, dressed in a long white gown with a red sash, a wreath lit with candles upon her golden hair, she began to deliver them.

Every room that was occupied, starting with her own family, was soon entered by Sif, carrying a breakfast tray. She sang softly as she put them on the nightstands and wished everyone a cheerful "Merry Christmas!"

Athena had managed to wake earlier than Triton and intercepted Sif in the hall. She'd thanked her for the tray and make a motion for the golden haired goddess to be quiet. She wanted to wake him up herself.

Also Triton tended to sleep... less than clothed. Not that she thought that Sif would mind (really, who would?), but Athena would rather Triton decide what women saw him naked in the morning.

She brought the tray to the bedside table and sat it down carefully, then she sat beside him on the bed. She leaned over and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. "Good morning," she whispered. "Merry Christmas."

Triton stirred and smiled a little at her.
"Merry Christmas," he murmured sleepily. He noted the smell of fresh pastry and blinked. "What's this? Breakfast?"

"Mmhmm. Don't give me too much credit. Sif made them and was delivering them around. I just intercepted her is all." She smiled. It was so rare to see him all sleepy and content. She was so glad she'd gotten up early. "My present for you is back home, so I had to improvise. And I didn't think you'd appreciate someone just barging into your room uninvited... that wasn't Melpomene.

"She's hardly the first," he said with a shrug.

"I'm afraid your present was left at home as well. I hope this will do for now," he said, pulling her down for a kiss.

She sighed into the kiss, and very happily reciprocated for a long moment. Then she drew back. They couldn't keep getting sucked into the moment. Though...it was so tempting with him all warm and sleepy.

She closed her eyes and bit her lower lip. "I'm going to need you to get stoic on me and tell me we should do something today other than roll around in bed together."

"You're right. We have breakfast to eat, after all. Probably other festivities to observe, whether we like it or not," he agreed, reluctantly sitting up.

She scooted the tray closer to them and picked up a pastry and began to pick it apart, one small bite at a time. "So if you were home, what would you be doing today?"

"I don't think my father is supposed to be back on leave until the first of the year, so it would just be my mother and me. We'd probably try to call my father, though. Exchange our gifts for each other. When I was younger, she'd want to bake cookies and sing songs. These days, we'd probably just watch some old Christmas movies," he said.

"Oh, that sounds really nice." And she meant it. Noting he hadn't picked up anything to eat yet, she broke off another piece of her pastry and held it out to him with a smile. "Dad and I would probably be hunting. We'd get home a little after sun up, and I'd clean and cook a duck or a goose, whichever we got. Then we'd exchange a present."

He took the offered pastry.
"I'm sorry you'll be missing Christmas with him," he said quietly.

"Thank you, I am too. But at least I get to spend it you." She gave him an encouraging smile, then pushed the back of his hand with the pastry toward his mouth. "That's meant for eating, not holding."

He put the pastry in his mouth and ate it.
"Better?" he asked. "And I'm glad to be spending it with you too."

He cocked his head toward the door, with the sounds of the others moving about.
"Now... Do we want to share the day with everyone else, or have it be just the two of us?"

She may have watched him eat that morsel a little too closely and had to make herself look away when he talked about maybe joining the others. "Do not tempt me after I asked you so nicely to get stoic."

"I'll take that as a request to join the others," he said, and picked up another of the pastries. "Well, it would be rude to let this go to waste. Stay here for breakfast in bed, and then we'll go downstairs to see the rest of the household."

"That," she said with a smile, climbing in to the bed beside him. "Seems like a fair and worthy compromise."

"Cozy?" he asked, as they nestled together.

"Very." Oh snuggling with him was a challenge top her resolve, but not every moment had top devolve into sex. She snuggled up against him and determinedly ate more of her pastry. Closeness was just as nice.

"You have crumbs," he observed, and lightly brushed them away from her mouth with his fingertips.

Her breath skipped as his fingers brushed her lips. "Are you trying to test my resolve here?" She was joking.... sort of.

"Just making sure you wouldn't be going downstairs with a mess," he said. "But, if you want your resolve tested, I'm sure I could do that as well."

She wondered if the things he said to her would ever lose the punch they currently had. She doubted it. "Christmas. We're supposed to actually make it out if bed, remember?"

Triton leaned over and kissed her long and deep.
"Consider that a promise for later, then," he said, and popped another bit of pastry into his mouth.

"All right, time to get dressed," he sighed, and hauled himself out of bed to go and select something to wear.

Yeah, she had no chance against him if he wanted to push to stay in bed. Because as soon as his lips were on hers, she was melting, going all soft under his touch. And when he pulled away, she felt bereft. Damn.

"Right. That's a good plan." She scrambled out of the bed too, avoiding looking at him directly. Because that way lay trouble.

Triton dressed quickly and business-like, pulling on a nice sweater and slacks.
"Hmm. Looks like quite the gathering in the parlor," he observed as they headed downstairs.
