Okay. This was getting really tense, really fast. She kept looking from one god to the other as they sniped at each other. And the thunder was starting to really concern her.

"Guys..." she started tentatively, hoping they'd defuse.

For now, the gentle voice of reason is ignored. "But you just said I should be training with my own kind. Why should I give a shit about your orders if that's what I'm supposed to do? Why do my people have to live up to your standards?"

He's not entirely sure what he's fighting for. Only that it must be.

"I said you would start with him. There are three armies to our name, and therefore multiple people working to marshal out forces. But, if you'd rather not begin with the familiar and you're ready to be one of the troops, by all means. Let's begin," Triton said, a hint of a growl in his voice, "After all, Athena here is my second-in-command, and clearly you've developed a comfort with her."

"Whoa, guys, come on. Calm down." How had this escalated so quickly from nothing?

He arches an eyebrow and can't help but chuckle. "Wow. Please tell me you're not that insecure."

Ka-boom. That one rattled the windows on the house.
"I was asked nicely not to crush you, Northman. But I can, and I will, if need be."

His eyes glance upward at the rattling, then level back with Triton's as he lifts his chin slightly. His voice is low; his teeth, clenched. "I survived a goddamned bomb going off twenty feet from me, Mer-Boy. I'm here in this fucked-up world of yours and alive because someone wanted me here. If you're gonna fucking crush me, I suggest you start because someone's got a head-start on you."

The thunder had gotten her notice. And she had that sixth sense for trouble, so she was practically beelining it for the library. Something was up and she wanted to find out what.

Astarte had been coming down to get a book for Meri when Ka-boom.

Normally, Tara was actually all in favor of Kabooms, in both her guises. It's a little bit less awesome happening in random rooms of the building her daughter is in. And extra-less coming from a sea god. Not that she's has a phobia. Damn it.

But she'll find herself watching as she comes nearer.

Hades had been watching Lilian mold a ball of clay when the sound went off. He'd been through enough of them to know the signs.

"Damnation. Persephone, stay with Lilian," Hades said before heading out of his room to the source.

The thunder had caught Aphrodite's attention as well. It was December, and endlessly flurrying, so this was far from natural thunder. That meant an unhappy god with storm powers. Anthony was playing calmly, and he wasn't strong enough for something like that. Poseidon... well, he wasn't called "Earthshaker" for nothing, and the ground was perfectly still. That left Triton.

Wondering what on earth could have gotten under the skin of the usually-stoic sea prince, Aphrodite followed the noise, and soon heard raised voices coming from the library. Of course she was going to see what was happening!

Thunder during snow? Not a good sign. And from experience, thunder was never brought on when the god wielding it was happy. This should not be ignored. Hel rose and went to find the source of the issue. Seeing a gathering crowd outside the library, well...she can do math.

Seth could not only hear the thunder, but smell traces of water in the air. This wasn't natural. Something otherworldly was going down.

"Bastet, watch Meri for me. I need to see what this is."

"What the fuck?"

Kali stared at the weather. Yeah. This was fucking weird. And she could hear shouting. So, she followed the noise, and joined the quickly-growing crowd in the library.

Sigyn came to find the crowd, hear the raised voices. "Hel? What's going on. ... Is Baldr okay?"

Apollo wasn't ever one to want to miss excitement. At the first few rumbles, he headed up to find the group crowding the library, and pressed his way in to get a good view.

Oh, this was rich. Triton was never in a fight.

Drawn by the commotion, Dionysus sidled up behind his brother, watching with interest through the gaps between everybody's heads.

Triton was barely aware of the crowd that had gathered around them, but his expression was as dark as the storm clouds outside.
"Don't you dare tempt me, Northman. You will be answering to me. Every. Single. Order. And you can start by minding your distance with Athena."

As soon as Triton said that she blinked hard. Was he making this about her? "Triton...jeez calm down. Nothing happened." Though she had the distinct feeling that absolutely no one was listening to her. She might as well have been talking to thin air.

Crowd? What crowd? "Try me. For the record, Mer-boy, you might want to start not making this about her. I don't go for girls who are taken. If you're that insecure about your relationship, you need to rethink your priorities, because that'll probably affect your ability to make sound decisions."

"And you knew she's taken?" Triton countered scathingly.

"I didn't. Not when I first joined this circus, but the fact that you've both been far more sparse than I have the last couple of days lead me to add up some things. Not to mention that she just had to tell you that nothing happened between us because you're losing your shit about her confirms it." He shrugged, folding his arms over his chest. "Like I said. I don't go after girls who are taken, and let's add in the fact my girlfriend was obliterated a few weeks ago... It really takes the flirt out of a person."

"Good. Don't you dare let anything happen between you and my girl," Triton snapped.

"And as long as she's your girl, you have nothing to worry your pretty head about. But you really might want to start listening to her when she tells you the truth."

"Okay, okay," said Dionysus, making his way through the crowd with a couple of bottles. "I think we've all enjoyed this heart-to-heart discussion, and both of you look like you need a drink, hey?" He came up beside them, not actually stepping between the two of them yet.
