She had Sean's present in her arms as she hunted the halls. She walked by the library and noticed the door a little ajar. She pushed it open a little further and poked her head it to see if anyone was in there.

"And you knew she's taken?" Triton countered scathingly.

"I didn't. Not when I first joined this circus, but the fact that you've both been far more sparse than I have the last couple of days lead me to add up some things. Not to mention that she just had to tell you that nothing happened between us because you're losing your shit about her confirms it." He shrugged, folding his arms over his chest. "Like I said. I don't go after girls who are taken, and let's add in the fact my girlfriend was obliterated a few weeks ago... It really takes the flirt out of a person."

"Good. Don't you dare let anything happen between you and my girl," Triton snapped.

"And as long as she's your girl, you have nothing to worry your pretty head about. But you really might want to start listening to her when she tells you the truth."

"Okay, okay," said Dionysus, making his way through the crowd with a couple of bottles. "I think we've all enjoyed this heart-to-heart discussion, and both of you look like you need a drink, hey?" He came up beside them, not actually stepping between the two of them yet.

"Her I trust. You, not so much," Triton hissed, and he whirled on Dionysus.

"This doesn't concern you, wine god."

"What's gotten into you, anyway?" he replied, taken aback a little. "Why do you give a good goddamn about it anyhow?" He swigged from one of the bottles himself, and narrowed his eyes at Triton. "Or is this being your usual stick-up-your-ass self, huh? I bet this isn't about you and her at all, but just some little tantrum of yours."

...that did it. There was a flash of lightning so bright, it could be seen through the library doors. And the entire house shuddered with the force of the thunderclap. Any vestige of calm vanished from Triton's face as his handsome features twisted in fury.

"BECAUSE I LOVE HER, DAMN IT!" he shouted.

Her jaw dropped, and she could practically feel her heart stopping for a moment. "....wait...what?"

"HA! I fucking called it!!" She cheered it out. Cuz she so had called it.

"Heh. Some guys," Tara manages to say affectionately despite the whole sea-god-screaming thing -- which had not made her flinch, oh no. "Kicks in new gears when they feel messed with."

Hades looked completely nonplussed by the outburst. He had been tempted to step in, but perhaps this would resolve itself. It was certainly not a development he had expected.

Aphrodite gasped, and then she smiled.
"Well, well. Whoever would have guessed?" she asked.

"Not me, apparently," Dionysus added, picking himself up off the floor and brushing himself off. He stuck a finger in his ringing ear and wiggled it briefly, grimacing. "I didn't think he had it in him, honestly."

"Well this just went to fucking pot in a hurry, and not the good way. I'm going back to check on Meri. See you when you're done, Astarte." Seth grumbled as he left the gathering.

"...What the fuck was that?" Kali asked aloud.

"Oh," Sigyn says quietly. "Well, that's nice. But he shouldn't talk like that to Baldr."

Apollo couldn't help it. This was gold. He started laughing.
"So the sea prince has a heart after all!"

Well, she hadn't expected that. But at least it explained a lot. Quite a lot. She spoke absently to Sigyn. "Perhaps not, but he handled himself well. Ah...l'amour."

Love is a funny thing. It makes people do things they wouldn't otherwise. Sean holds his hands up, nodding only once as his expression softens. While it wasn't in him to become jealous, he sometimes understood why others did. He takes a step back without a word and wonders why the guy never told her before.

Triton stopped short as the realization sank in in the wake of the flash of temper. He could feel the eyes of the crowd on him, staring at him. He couldn't meet any of them.

"I..."

Triton found he had no words following that outburst. Golden ichor suffused his cheeks and neck, burning under his skin. He almost flinched. Not quite, but almost. His pride had certainly taken a blow from that.

"...excuse me..." he muttered, and headed for the exit as quickly as he could push through the crowd. He needed to get to water. Stat.

And when Triton exits to get his water, he'll find Frigg standing nearby. Her eyes radiate a cold, white aura as she stares at him.

"We need to have a talk."

"Not... not this moment." Aside from the flush on his face, it was hard to read his emotions from his expression, but the young sea prince's voice sounded shaken.

"Another time, on the Styx, but I... I need water."

Triton left and it was like the frozen moment she'd been in suddenly began moving again. It was like her breath rushed out of her lungs and her knees just decided to stop holding her up.

He'd watched as his sparring partner scuttled out of the library. History usually dictates that where one goes, the other should follow. But when Athena doesn't, he can't help but turn toward her, and very suddenly, he finds himself catching her before she hits the floor.

"Hey, hey..." he says. "C'mon..." He wraps one arm around her to gently guide her back to the seat she'd been sitting in, letting her move her own feet if they want to work with her.
