She tried his cell. No answer. Which had been happening for some time now.

She tried his office, and the secretary made some excuse about him being indisposed. Every time she called.

Finally, she'd had enough. She called the office again and asked for the senior Maddox, and at last the secretary was helpful and told her to hold while she was transferred.

After a few moments the line picks up with an older male voice on the other end.

"This is Jeffrey Maddox. To whom am I speaking?"

"Mr. Maddox, this is Maeve Windthorpe. I am looking for your son." Mab was ever arrow straight to the point. She saw no point in beating about the bush.

"Ahhh," the man said in recognition of the name. "It's been some time Ms. Windthorpe. I imagined I'd be receiving a call from you sooner or later giving what my son has told me. Before we continue however, I must ask: Would you prefer I call you Ms. Windthorpe or Mab?"

She didn't miss a beat. If Bres had revealed himself to his family that was his prerogative. "Mab is preferable in private."

"Very well then, Mab. I understand why you're calling. My son has been become very work-driven as of late as a means, I suspect, of avoiding talking to you," Mr. Maddox surmised. "Now Christopher hasn't informed me of the particulars of your relationship, but I know you mean a great deal to him and that whatever happened hit him hard."

Well, at least he hadn't been stolen away by the Powers. Her major fear was assuaged. "Avoiding a problem never solved it. I would like to speak to him, but his is ignoring my calls."

"I'm inclined to agree with you Mab. Please hold a moment." Mab is suddenly put on hold as the phone signal seems to have changed. "There, had to get on a secure line for this. Christopher is currently overseeing a secret manufacturing plant we set up as a means of arming your forces should the need arise that the government turns on you. I can send you the coordinates for the facility."

Well, at least he was being productive while avoiding her.

"I would appreciate that, yes." Especially, since she needed to know about it regardless of their personal tension.

"Doing so now," Mr. Maddox says as he sends her the address. "One more thing, my boy's thickheaded so he may not say it, but he's been happier since you two..whatever you've been doing. He cares deeply about you, and you're good for him. That's why I'm telling you where he is. For his own good."

"I'm aware of the density of his skull, sir." There was a lightness to her tone that wasn't there before. And a respect too. "I'll go speak with him directly. You're help is appreciated."

She can't say 'thank you'. It's a phrase that is detrimental to Fae in many cases, and she was become less human and more fae every time she blinked it seemed. So she had to work around it as best she could. Mortals required verbal thanks.

"Good luck to you, Mab." The elder Maddox hangs up.

Having ones own private jet had major advantages. She had landed and was in a car toward the location she'd been given in only a few hours.

The black limousine pulled up outside the plant, and she had to deal with the security gate. Where many people would have been certainly stopped, nothing stood between Mab and what she wanted. After scaring the guards half to death with only a few well placed words, the gates opened and the car pulled onto the property. Though certainly her presence had been announced once the security guards were out from under her baleful stare.

The guards while flustered at the arrival of the intimidating woman, quickly radioed her presence in.

Before long Mab would be met by a well-dressed woman of mixed African and Hispanic extraction. "Ms. Windthorpe? Linda Costello, Mr Maddox's on-site manager," she said by means of introduction. "Mr. Maddox is inside. I will take you to him so we can avoid further incident."

She exited the vehicle as she saw the woman approaching. Her only response to the simple clear explanation was an incline of her head in acknowledgement. Though the term "incident" almost got a smirk out of her. This woman had no idea how much of an "incident" Mab could cause if she were so inclined.

She followed Ms. Costello, intent on seeing Bres and putting this nonsense to rest.

Costello guided her through a back entrance into the facility. "He's in there," she informed, pointing at a sizable enclosed office. "likely studying distribution routes."

With just another short nod, Mab strode away from her guide, smart heels clicking with purpose. The door opened easily under her hand and she stepped inside, closing it casually behind her.

Indeed that was exactly what Bres had been doing: Considering potential distribution routes to Triton's soldiers. He looked up in surprise as the door opened.
"Mab!?" Clearly he had not expected her. More likely the elder Maddox had instructed Costello to guide Mab. "How did..? No one..? ...Father."

"So this is where you've been hiding." She completely ignored his startled grasping for explanations. "Impressive. At least you're productive while laying low."

"Idle hands are the devil's tools is what my grandfather used to say," Bres said in reply. He spoke in a business like-tone, the calm veneer falling back into place.

"You've been avoiding me." It came out matter of fact, with no edge of accusation. She was not going to be put off the point of coming all the way here.

Bres sighed, hands on his hips. "Yeah, yeah I have," he admitted. He walked over to the small refrigerator to grab a drink.

Well at least he was admitting it. She stayed where she was in front of the door and tracked him with her eyes. "I would like an explanation."

He opened the beer can, took a sip and then set it down.

"I didn't want to talk after..that shit that happened at the hotel."

"It's been long enough. And I am here to talk."

He took a long, strained breath before looking back at her. "I know what happened in your room."
