She tried his cell. No answer. Which had been happening for some time now.

She tried his office, and the secretary made some excuse about him being indisposed. Every time she called.

Finally, she'd had enough. She called the office again and asked for the senior Maddox, and at last the secretary was helpful and told her to hold while she was transferred.

Costello guided her through a back entrance into the facility. "He's in there," she informed, pointing at a sizable enclosed office. "likely studying distribution routes."

With just another short nod, Mab strode away from her guide, smart heels clicking with purpose. The door opened easily under her hand and she stepped inside, closing it casually behind her.

Indeed that was exactly what Bres had been doing: Considering potential distribution routes to Triton's soldiers. He looked up in surprise as the door opened.
"Mab!?" Clearly he had not expected her. More likely the elder Maddox had instructed Costello to guide Mab. "How did..? No one..? ...Father."

"So this is where you've been hiding." She completely ignored his startled grasping for explanations. "Impressive. At least you're productive while laying low."

"Idle hands are the devil's tools is what my grandfather used to say," Bres said in reply. He spoke in a business like-tone, the calm veneer falling back into place.

"You've been avoiding me." It came out matter of fact, with no edge of accusation. She was not going to be put off the point of coming all the way here.

Bres sighed, hands on his hips. "Yeah, yeah I have," he admitted. He walked over to the small refrigerator to grab a drink.

Well at least he was admitting it. She stayed where she was in front of the door and tracked him with her eyes. "I would like an explanation."

He opened the beer can, took a sip and then set it down.

"I didn't want to talk after..that shit that happened at the hotel."

"It's been long enough. And I am here to talk."

He took a long, strained breath before looking back at her. "I know what happened in your room."

For her part she seemed just as cool and calm as ever. "And?" she prompted.

A near-growl escape his lips, a hint that his teeth had shifted to become somewhat sharper. "The sheer disgust I felt was too much for me to even consider speaking to you."

That seemed to gain a measure of interest from her. One prefect brow rose. "Disgust?"

"Of all the people you could have fucked, that..that..shameless whore, Apollo! I would have thought you'd have higher standards that that!"He said angrily. Thankfully the room was soundproof.

"You speak as though I chose him on purpose to spite you." And still her tone was even and matter of fact.

"No, but..why did you have to fuck him!? You're telling me that was the only means to escape that room!?" Bres started to pace a little. "I mean really, what does that strutting peacock have that could interest you aside from the basest things!?"

"Do not put words in my mouth, Bres." Her tone took a colder note, at last moving from the neutrality it had been maintaining. "If you have a question, ask it straight. Do not make assumptions."

"Why!?" He snarled. "Why would you do that with someone you've stated openly about how much you despised him!?" His face shifted somewhat to Fomorian, but not the full transformation.

"Hate and attraction are not mutually exclusive." Her arms crossed as she watched him shift.

"What was the attraction!? What does that standardless man-whore have that I don't!?"

What? "Do you feel threatened by him because I indulged my curiosity?"
