Winter is putting footsteps in the meadow

Summary: Halloween time interactions with old-timey clothes!


She found little amusement in her forced choice of clothing. However, after much diligence she'd discovered something that she felt was passable. Feathers after all were a fraction more reliable than spider webbing.

And with her ill mood she'd taken herself away from the main house and come to the gardens. It was warm and bright and the flowers were in bloom. It did nothing to improve her temperament. In fact, the air in the small, almost secluded corner she'd come to, turned decidedly cooler, and the grass beneath her bare feet began sparkling with frost. She could admit quietly to herself that she reached out to coat a vibrant red rose in crystal clear ice purely out of spite, small as the revenge might be.

"Hmm, with these clothes and the increase in cool temperatures, it almost makes me feel nostalgic," Bres mused. Bres had received clothing from his past lives, much as everyone did. She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. "I'm getting there." The clothing he wore looked different. She knew she wasn't alone in her dress restrictions, but at least she wasn't the only one who seemed at least a little inconvenienced by it. "You look... over burdened."

"Not as much as you'd think. I believe these clothes they're making us wear are custom-made. Well, either that or my endurance has improved since coming here." he looks around. "So, why the winter wonderland?"

"I'm annoyed," she answered simply. She turned away and touched another rose bush and it too slowly became a colorful ice sculpture. "I'm taking what little revenge I can."

"I can see that. Very effective means by making things cold, I'm sure the Overgods are very POed."

"I sense sarcasm," she said flatly. "I honestly doubt I can do any true damage to this place. Once the ice melts I wouldn't be surprised if the plants go on as if nothing happened at all."

"And as usual few things escape your notice," he replies with a teasing smile. "Well you can see if the place has a boiler room and..nevermind, bad train of thought. Personally I half-doubt this entire place will exist at all after we leave."

She made a little hum of acknowledgement to his comment. It was a logical assumption. Making up a finite pocket realm would not be out of the power sphere of a deity... or two.

"I grow tired with being too powerless to confront the 'Overgods' as you put it. What possible purpose does it serve to only give me clothes meant for a full blooded Sidhe?"

"Seemed more practical than calling them 'Uber Deities' or 'Great Old Ones'. Don't want sued by H.P. Lovecraft," Bres said, starting to babble a little. he reasserted his train of thought. "I think they're just amusing themselves along the way of their goal."

"Lovecraft is generally public domain." She walked to a stone bench and sat. Which is to say she maneuvered the peacock train with a flourish, so when she sat down, it fell alongside her. She crossed her legs, leaning a little to her right so she might brace herself on her hand. She may not have approved of her clothing choices but she had no intention of ruining them while she was still in them.

"One would think they'd have better things to do than play ridiculous pranks."

"Hmm, good point," Bres conceded. He manages to avoid looking at her crossed legs.

"Either that or they think we'll gain some great spiritual perspective by the experience. People have used crazier reasoning."

She scoffs. "Spiritual perspective? Most here seem to be using our little kidnapping as an excuse to sleep with whomever they can get their hands on." And now she sounded rather surly. The air was definitely chilly now.

He raises an eyebrow at that. "That actually bother you?" he asks, surprised. "I can understand being annoyed with them as we'd like to get back home, but you sound genuinely angry."

"When it's between those who actually desire it, who am I to nay say? I'd just as soon they all distract each other endlessly. I, however, would just as soon be left out of it." She wasn't angry per se, just highly annoyed.

"Left out of..?" And then it clicks, his features twisting in cool menace. "Someone harassed you with this?"

"I was approached after midnight. It was nothing I couldn't handle, but you know how I despise repeating myself."

His features seem to twist a little, almost bestial. "Does someone need a lesson taught?" he asked.

She stared at him a moment, brows drawn together in question. "You're angry." She sounded surprised.

His facial features seem to be in flux as they shift from human..to something distinctly not.

"Was it that strutting peacock, Apollo!? I'll teach him to treat the Queen of the Fae of like a common strumpet!" A slight hint of horn could be seen pushing the helmet up.

Though his guess was spot on, she was truly confused by his vicious response. She rose and approached him, with what may have been caution. She reach out a hand and touched his face, because there was exposed skin and she could command his attention by the coolness of her own. "Bres. Control yourself."

His features were by this time were twisted into a truly bestial image, but the cool hand is like a light switch to Bres' more rational mind.

"I.. apologize," his voice with a deeper, altered tone. His tone sounded both chagrined, and almost shaken.

Now that she had his focus, she took her hand away. She eyed his second form, recognizing it for what it was. "Can you change back?"

"I..don't know," he admitted. "I will..try." He closed his eyes, trying to will himself back to human-form. The skin felt like it shifted again, but not as quickly as it had before.

She watched his struggle with the transformation with interest, and a small amount of concern hovering under the surface as well. "You will need to practice."

"So it would seem," he said with calm, but ill-humor. His words were more "Bres-like" again, though they seemed at odds with his new form and altered voice. "I suppose this is my..evolution." he growls a bit before sitting on the ground, the snow not bothering him in the slightest. "I shouldn't complain..you went through worse than this," he said with respect, trying to rein in his anger.
